Principal's Message
Dear Sabre families,
We hope everyone has had a good start to the month of February and a chance to enjoy the amazing weather. Furthermore, as we know we have many NFL and entertainment fans in our community, and, whether you are a football enthusiast or tuned in for the commercials, we hope you had an enjoyable Super Bowl Sunday!
February is the month of kindness and there have been and will be activities throughout. Thank you to our SAIL students (Sabres Active in Leadership) along with our teachers, Mrs. Tomkow and Mrs. Lister, for their work and intentionality in bringing our Sabres that much more together and highlighting the importance of being kind, thoughtful and simply put, good to each other.
February is also Black History month. At our last School Council meeting, Mr. Persaud, who leads our SAL Movement, spoke about the impact and importance of the work he is leading around inclusion and diversity at SAL. There is a strong student following, both in and around the school and on social media, and if you have a chance to do so, follow @TheSalisburyMovement on Instagram.
To start the semester last week, we were able to run grade level assemblies where administration communicated to each grade group what is going well, what to expect in the second semester, and a chance to praise them collectively on how they have carried themselves. There is a real power of being in the same room, or gym in this case when delivering meaningful messages. As a whole, our students have demonstrated Sabre Pride in their actions in so many different ways!
The season of play in basketball, curling and cheer is winding down with playoffs and final competitions on the horizon. We wish each team all the best! Congratulations to our junior girls team on winning their third straight gold medal this past week in Red Deer.

This week brings us to Open House on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for prospective students. We are very excited to showcase our school, amazing programming and staff, in person, for the first time in a few years.

Also, Thursday is the School Council meeting which we will run in a hybrid format. CLICK HERE to join the meeting through Teams. The agenda is added below.
