A Look At Our Week....
It was so fun bringing the learning outdoors on our field trip last Friday! We counted as we hiked, read the signs along the trails, and identified dead native animals! We used our senses as we explored the environment, and picnicked together on a grand staircase. I look forward to our next field trip in April to the Wildlife Hatchery, where the experiential learning will continue!
In Math we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction problems. I will be assessing your child this week on their ability to count forward to 100 from any given number. This is a fun activity to do in the car/while walking. Give them a start no. like 8 and ask them to count from there to 100, then try starting from a different no. like 28 etc. You can also challenge your child to count backwards from 20, this is a new skill that we are working on. Don't forget to attend the Math carnival and Chicken Dinner on Tuesday between 5:30-7:30 to give you more ideas to support your child's mathematical development.
Our beans are sprouting in our windows! It's been wonderful to watch the shoots pop out, and to observe the changes over the week since we started our experiment. During Choice Time we have been holding Lego challenges, and the childrens' creations are also sitting in the window on display.
On Friday April the 7th we will be having an Easter Egg hunt at 1:30. If everyone could send in some filled eggs (I would love it if they were filled with things other than candy, if possible!) that would really help us to give them a great hunt. You are all welcome to attend, if convenient.
In Fundations and Guided Reading we continue to work on reading and writing CVC words and sight words. Make sure that your children are using their "pointer fingers" as they read to you(unless your child is above Level D and above - they know who they are).
