PE with Coach Freeman:
In PE, we will be beginning a unit on basketball. Each week we will be working on a different skill. Passing, dribbling, shooting, and all! Please don’t forget to come to our Dunking with Dad event! The students are going to play basketball with their Dads here in the gym. See you there!
Art with Mrs. Lovelace:
This month in art we will continue to talk about the element of art called value. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color. We will discuss shade, tone, and tint as we create original pieces of artwork in the month of January.
Music with Mrs. Hinton:
In Music we will continue learning loud and soft sounds. We will create loud and soft sounds using a variety of instruments . We will continue to reinforce concepts learned in the classroom through music such as letters, counting, holidays and seasons.
Library with Mrs. Churchill & Mrs. Cunningham:
This month in the library, we will continue to identify the main characters of the story as well as secondary characters (and what the difference is between the two.) Added to that, we will begin discussing the setting of the story, or where the story takes place. Try discussing these story elements as you read to your child. You will be surprised at how much they know! Also, please continue to remind your child of the importance of returning their library book each week. Thanks for helping these young readers to be responsible readers!
Health Spot
Please follow the "need to stay home" guidelines as well as teaching them proper hand hygiene (wash for 20 seconds) and covering their mouth or nose when they sneeze or cough (please teach them to cough, sneeze on the inside of their shirt collar by lifting it up to their nose/mouth). Flu season is upon us and these are good habits to start with your children now.
Below is a hand washing video featuring Biscuit the Dog that can be used with your child to reinforce good hand-washing!
