Message from the Principal

Dear Stewart Families,

September is here! We are excited about the activities we have planned for this month. There is a lot of information in this newsletter, so please take time to read it carefully.

You may have noticed that the number of positive cases looks as though they are going down at Stewart. This is good news for us, but we must continue to be diligent and follow our protocols. More students are wearing a mask while at school, as well as, staff. We continue to encourage everyone to wear a mask on campus. Please continue to keep your children at home if they are sick or if there is a COVID positive family member at home. Following the protocols we have in place, is currently the best way we will keep everyone safe and our campus open for learning.

A huge thank you to our Stewart families for your continued support of your children and our campus. We cannot do what we do without your support. Hopefully, we will be able to invite you to the campus very soon. Let's all continue to do our part to keep your children and our staff well and our doors open for in person teaching and learning.

On another note, Conroe ISD is in the process of building a new school just a few miles from Stewart. Gordon-Reed Elementary will be ready for students in the 22/23 school year. This school is being built to reduce overcrowding at Stewart and other elementary schools that feed into Conroe High School. The district has formed a committee, which includes parents from all schools that may be impacted by the rezoning.

This committee will be meeting several times between now and January 2022 to evaluate different boundary lines for the new campus. I have included the dates for public meetings in this newsletter. Please make plans to come to these meetings. We want to hear from you as we work to make the recommendation for rezoning to our school board in January or February.

Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) Meetings - Rezoning for Stewart and Gordon-Reed Elementary Schools

Below are the dates for the community presentations for rezoning.

Presentation of the rezoning process to create new attendance boundaries and solicit input from the community. Three dates offered for the presentation are:

September 28th @6:00PM through Zoom.

September 30th @6:30PM at Stewart K-6

Both presentations will be the same.

The ABC presents various zoning scenarios developed by the committee and solicits feedback from the community. Three dates offered for the presentation are:

November 4th @6:00PM through Zoom.

November 9th @6:30PM at Stewart K-6

Both presentations will be the same.

The ABC presents proposed zoning recommendations. Three dates offered for the presentation are:

January 10th @6:00PM through Zoom.

January 11th @6:30 at Stewart K-6

Both presentations will be the same.

The ABC presents the zoning recommendation to the Board of Trustees on January 18, 2022.

We hope that you will put some of these dates on your calendar. We want to ensure our community is informed and hear your thoughts and ideas. I will send out the link for the zoom meetings the week of the presentations.

News from Nurse Patty

Although we are encouraged by lower COVID positive cases, we are still seeing increasing numbers of students with multi-symptom illness (headache, fever, sore throat, congestion, cough and vomiting). We are urging parents to keep symptomatic students home and seek medical attention to rule out Strep/COVID or other childhood illness.

Parents can schedule FREE COVID testing with CISD for your students via your child’s SSO Portal. You will sign in to the portal and click on the COVID Central App, then click on “schedule a test”. This testing site is available M-F from 8AM-6PM and Saturday 8AM-4PM.

Labor Day

Monday, September 6th is Labor Day and a holiday for students and staff. Schools will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2021.

Picture Day - Wednesday - September 8th

Our fall picture day will be on Wednesday, September 8th. These pictures will be taken indoors and will be used in our yearbook.

Arrival and Dismissal

The district has been facing some challenges with regards to bus transportation. There are times that the transportation department may be short bus drivers. Some routes may be running late at times. The transportation department will notify parents through a Bus Hub email if your child is affected.

If possible, please consider transporting your child and utilize our drop-off and pick-up lines. These lines run very efficiently and safe and may relieve some overcrowding on our buses as well.

Morning Drop Off

Please do not drop your students off in the back parking lot by the bus ramp in the morning. If you must walk them in, please park in a designated parking space, and walk them all the way to the sidewalk. There is no car rider line in the back parking lot. This is a safety rule we must follow.

Weekly Text Messages and Emails

Just a reminder that a text message and email is sent each Sunday afternoon at 4:00PM. This communication (Stewart Happenings Week of...) includes weekly reminders for families. If you are not receiving this communication, please contact our registrar to update your child's information.

Stewart PTO Auction - August 23 - September 3

Stewart PTO’s Auction closes on Friday, September 3 at 9:00 p.m. Here is your chance to purchase a reserved parking spot (with dismissal fast pass), dismissal fast passes, ticket to painting with the principal, water balloon fight with the AP’s, and many other awesome items donated by our generous community! We have over 100 items to auction off! Visit to bid!

Our first PTO meeting is Friday, September 3 at 9:00 a.m at Roasted Coffee Shop in Woodforest. We will also offer this meeting via Zoom. We would love for you to join us!

By joining the Stewart PTO, you’re not only supporting school programs and events, but you’re also gaining a voice within our school. Only members may vote on PTO issues. Your membership dues are also important in helping fund our goals for the school year. Stretched thin on time? Don’t feel like you have time for another time draining obligation? Joining the PTO is supporting our school, not committing to monthly meetings and volunteering. Although, we’d love to have you!

Every family that joins PTO by October 1, will be entered in for a drawing to win a pair of reserved seats at the performance (band, choir, grade level play, etc.) of their choice and a PTO bundle complete with a Stewart water bottle, birthday shoutout on the marquee, yard sign, and decal.
