Despite the high temperatures, we had an amazing week. The children are learning their new routines and getting settled. We had many highlights including the parent chapel and the opening of the new playground! A big thank you to everyone who made this possible, the kids love it! Monday, September 7th is Labor Day and there will be no school.

Next week will be busy. Mark your calendars and look below for what's happening. Thursday, September 10th is the Open House; Saturday, September 12th is the Von Steuben Day Parade; Sunday, September 13th is Pilgrim Fest - Block Party!

Staffing Changes

Lindsay is Moving!

We need to announce that our fantastic Business Manager, Lindsay Beveridge, is moving to Geneva, IL in a new home she is purchasing with her new husband, Brian, and their beautiful children, Annabelle and Lincoln. We are sad to lose her from the neighborhood and from her administrative position in the office, but we are happy for them as they celebrate a new beginning for their family. We will be saying a prayer of appreciation for her on Sunday, October 18th.

Installation of New Office Staff- Sunday, September 20th

We are thrilled to announce that our installation of our new and wonderful office staff will be installed on Sunday, September 20th at the 10:30 a.m. service. It will be great to officially welcome Communications Administrator Halley Williams and Office Administrator Kathy Danner to their positions. They already have been working here two months, and have been doing fantastic work relating to church members and school families out of the school office. Please join us that day!

Cross Country is Up and Running

Students/Runners in Grades 4-8th are invited to an informational meeting Tuesday September 8th at 3:05 p.m. Gather in the back of church and find out all about this season of running. Practices will begin the next day with our first meet on September 21st. The meeting will be over by 3:20 p.m. See you there. B. Halter

The PTL needs more active members! Gift Cards

Gift cards are available in the school office Monday and Friday and in the church foyer on Sunday. Why not get into the habit of purchasing at least one grocery or drug store card every week or so- You know you will be going there! We have Jewel-Osco, Marianos, Whole Foods, Strack and vanTil, Meijers, Walmart, Target, Peapod, CVS and Walgreens in $25s and $100s on hand. If you don't have the time to stop into the school office you can send an order with your child and the cards will go home the next selling day (you will be sent an email regarding your order). Checks should be made out to Pilgrim Lutheran Church CIP. Please contact Anne Barsano at cbarsano@aol.com or 773-472-6037 with any questions. Order forms can be found on SIS under promotions, in the school office and on the table in the narthex. Thank you!

Magazine order forms will go out soon and are due back the first week in October. Paper orders may be put in the box in the school office or you may go online to order. Information is in the packet.

Boxtops for Education

The boxtops collection program continues at Pilgrim….you can also place your boxtops in the container on the table in the narthex of the church or in the container in the school office. Join the effort! All funds raised from the boxtops collection will go to fund Pilgrim Kids Care. Questions? Contact Paula Raabe (praabe@pilgrimchicago.org)

Luggage Drive for UCAN

During the month of September, as part of this fall's "Season of Service" project, we are having a Luggage Drive for UCAN. (www.ucanchicago.org) UCAN's mission is to support youth who have suffered trauma from abuse or neglect. The luggage is needed for when the children are moved to foster care. New and lightly used luggage and duffle bag donations can be placed on the north west wall of the narthex underneath the bulletin boards. Thank you for your participation and generosity!
