FAC Weekly Update
January 22, 2021
Good Morning, Fine Arts Center Family
I hope that you had a terrific week!
Our first few days with more students in the building have gone very well, and even though we are masked and socially-distanced, it is starting to feel a bit more "normal" in the building. We are on our way, continuing to work through the challenges and proving that we can make great art, no matter what.
Here is the latest from the halls of the Fine Arts Center...
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
“If you want to have an amazing impact as a leader, you need to...do many unamazing things as you set the example for your team.
- Practicing is not amazing.
- Studying is not amazing.
- Showing up is not amazing.
- Working hard is not amazing.
- Asking questions is not amazing.
- Changing is not amazing.
- Trying is not amazing.
- Failing is not amazing.
- Trying again is not amazing.
But every one of these things is necessary. They are the price you must pay every day to reach your potential. If you pay that price and do it consistently, the final result can be amazing."
― John C. Maxwell, Leadershift - The 11 Essential Changes Every Leader Must Embrace, p. 78-79.

Internet Safety Event - from the Julie Valentine Center
Please join the Julie Valentine Center as they discuss internet safety, sexting and its impact, and talking to your kids in a constructive way about this sometimes sensitive topic. Tonya Stewart, JVC adolescent therapist, will share her experiences with sexting, trauma, supporting your kids through this experience, and talking to other parents about this. They will also discuss internet safety tips and talking points for you and your child. You can join them via zoom or watch live on Facebook.
Summer Intensive Study - Scholarship Funds Available!
An application will be shared in the near future, where students can outline their goals and the accompanying program costs. The priority of funding will be given to students who are P.I.P. status or demonstrate financial need through the application.
Many thanks to our Partners for their generosity!
Resources for the New Attendance Plan
Confused about the new attendance plan? Please go to our new webpage that contains resources on the 75% Attendance Plan. We have downloadable calendars and an infographic that should help you and your child manage the new schedule.
