Frankenstein Final Assessment
COMPANIONSHIP/ FRIENDSHIP. By: Amanda Thomas
"Dearest Clerval," exclaimed I, "How kind, how very good you are to me. This whole winter instead of being spent in study, as you promised yourself, has been consumed in my sick room."(Shelley 47.)
This relates to the idea of friendship in the book becauseHenry's actions relate to what a good friend is and what friends do for each other when they know someone is in need for them.
"How could suppose that my first thought would not flt towards those dear, dear friends whom I love and who are so deserving of my love?" (Shelley 47.)
This quote that Victor states relates to the definition of a true friend which he is trying to get across to Henry. This relates to the real world because this definition is what people use to categorize a true friend.
"Farewell, sweet lady, dearest Elizabeth, my beloved and only friend;" (Shelley 70.)
"My companion will be of the same nature as myself and will be content with the same fare." (Shelley 125.)
The second quote here is a quote from the creature, he states that he wants someone to be created that is the same as him because he thinks by doing this, this new creature will be the same as him since no one that is human likes him. This relates back to friendship because the creature is showing that he does have feelings and he just wants someone to share that with.
Companionship
The bringing together of two people who care for each other
Friendship
The Modern World:
"'I am alone and miserable: man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me. My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects. This being you must create.'" (Shelley 129.)

"I have no friend, Margaret: when I am glowing with the enthusiasm of success, there will be none to participate my joy; if I am assailed by disappointment, no one will endeavour to sustain me in dejection." ( Shelley Letter 2 pg: 4.)
This meaning of things that friends do relate back to what Victor is saying to Margaret and how he has no one since he has no friends but if he did he would have someone to share his success with.
