Dr. Patterson's Weekly Update
Eagle Pride: Video by Dr. Patterson
December 3-7, 2018
Happy Sunday Eagles!
This week, we will continue decorating our halls with "lights of kindness" where students have the opportunity to recognize others for random acts of kindness. If you visit our school, check out the lights of kindness from last week. We hope to have all of our hallways strung with lights of kindness prior to December 17.
Thank you to all teachers and students who have participated in the Holiday Door Decorating Contest! Judges will be visiting our school to vote on Thursday, December 13-Friday, December 14. It has been fun decorating and watching the students get excited! We have some creative students and staff!
Assessments in Grades 3-5
This week students in grades 3-5 will be taking assessments to determine next steps in their instruction. It is very important that students focus and do their very best so teachers know how to plan future instruction to meet their needs. We encourage all students to work out math problems and show their work. All students who show their work for the math assessment on Monday will be allowed to dress down on Thursday, December 13.
Intercession Enrichment
All students will be receiving age-appropriate math and reading assignments in a packet to complete during intercession. Each student who completes the math and reading packet in its entirety will have an ice cream celebration. We encourage all parents to challenge your children to complete the activities in the packet to maintain learning during our break. Packets are due when students return on January 4, 2019.
You can access the modified calendar proposal to make up time missed due to Hurricane Florence at https://www.onslow.k12.nc.us/cms/lib/NC02213593/Centricity/Domain/8100/03%20-%202018-19%20Yr-Rnd%20Cal%20-%20REVISED.pdf. You will notice in the revised calendar that December 17 and January 4 are now student days. In the original calendar, these were teacher workdays. Please make a note that students are expected to attend these days in the new proposal. If there are any changes to this proposed calendar, we will keep you updated.
