Principals Message
Hello Wildcat families!
The 21-22 school year is in full swing! We are thrilled to have all of our Wildcats back on campus with us. There are great things happening at TEWMS and it is awesome that you and your student(s) are able to participate.
- We have students joining our Happiness Grant program with the University of South Florida.
- We have had 2200+ emails sent by Wildcat families for our Step It UP! fundraiser.
- Students earning points in their PBIS rewards app through myPascoConnect, more details below
New TEWMS Wildcat families of all grades are joining our community daily, as evident by all the new developments and homes in the Wesley Chapel area. With that being said, we are looking to add a few teachers to our TEWMS staff soon to get some of our classes smaller. This will require that some students to have changes in their schedules and possible their teachers. Students and families will be contact when this occurs.
This week is our 1st Early Release day: Wednesday, Sept 8th. Students will be dismissed 2 hours early at 12:50pm and be expected to go home in the same manner as they do every school day. In addition, this week is 1st Quarter Progress Reports will be posted in myStudent on Friday, Sept 10th. Please make sure that you are reviewing your students grades through out the school year.
In order to protect the health and safety of employees, staff, and students, all those who access Pasco County School locations must self-screen for symptoms and other risk factors of COVID-19 daily. The Student Self Screener is linked for you to review prior to your student coming on campus. As we learn and work through our current reality of COVID-19, please remember to use the self-screener and contact the school when your student isn't feeling well and keeping them home.
We need YOUR help!

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) @ TEWMS
Our school is participating in an initiative called Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). Students will be able to earn “Pawsitive Points” awarded by staff for meeting schoolwide expectations.
What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Support?
PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. It is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and all staff in all settings. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.
What is PBIS at our school?
We have adopted a unified set of schoolwide expectations. These rules define our expectations for behavior in our school. You will see these rules posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them during his or her first days at school. Our ROAR expectations, found in every classroom and non-classroom setting in the school, are as follows:
- R – Respect – treat others, their beliefs, and belongings with kindness and fairness; use appropriate language and raise hand to speak
- O – Ownership – take responsibility for your work making sure it is complete and on time
- A – Academics – try your best on assignments and stay focused in class allowing others to do the same
- R – Readiness – be prepared to meet the expectations of class
As part of our PBIS process, teachers and other staff members use evidence-based practices to increase student learning and decrease classroom disruptions. To keep students on the rules in a positive manner, we do the following when teaching academics and behavior:
- Constantly teach and refer to our school-wide expectations.
- Provide students with more praise than correction.
- Talk to students with respect using positive voice tone.
- Actively engage everyone in the class during instruction.
- Use pre-correcting, prompting, and redirecting as we teach.
- Look for the positive first and provide positive, immediate, frequent, and explicit feedback.

Attendance Awareness month
Did you know that at least one out of every 10 students in the United States misses 10 percent of the school year? That’s the point when absences—excused or unexcused—start to add up to academic trouble. These attendance gaps lead to achievement gaps. Starting in kindergarten, chronic absence leads to 3rd graders unable to read well. By 6th grade, it’s a warning sign that students will fail classes or even drop out of high school. This September, join the Attendance Awareness Campaign, and let’s all work together to make sure all kids attend today so they can achieve tomorrow.

When students quarantine
Pasco County has resources for families when a student quarantines due to being exposed to a positive COVID case. Such resources on what to do next can be found here: https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/coronavirus/quarantine. If your student is needing to be quarantined, please make sure to communicate such with the school so that we can adjust attendance AND inform teachers that they will be completing work via myLearning. For some, this means completing the Mach form that is linked in the school notification email of potential exposure.
Student who are quarantined are to complete their class work in their myLearning courses if they are feeling well enough to do so (http://launchpad/classlink.com/dsbpc). Each course has "Smarthinking Online Tutoring" to assist students with completing their work; this tutoring is free and available 24/7 for ALL secondary courses.
Please ask your child to follow these instructions:
- If you are feeling well enough to do your schoolwork at home, you are welcome to continue your classes and classwork.
- Your schedule will not change. You will not be moved to a MySchool Online schedule. You will stay with your current teacher(s), but your work will be completed through the MyLearning App.
- Log in and complete whatever work you feel well enough to do.
- To submit your completed work, snap a picture, upload it, and submit it through MyLearning.
- Work packets will not be sent home. Please go in MyLearning to complete your classwork.
- If you get stuck, email your teacher through your Outlook app or within myLearning. Under “Help” click the button labeled “Ask Your Instructor (Teacher) a Question”.
- If you don’t have a computer, or you are not feeling well enough to do work, don’t worry, your teachers will help you get caught up when you return.
