A Peek at our Week

Reading: We completed our study of genres. Our goal is to read 40 books in 5th grade and choose from a variety of genres! Together we are reading a realistic fiction text called Frindle, by Andrew Clements. We will learn more about this author and the books he writes.

Writing: We will write about a human body system in science and native american life in social studies as part of our informational writing practice.

Spelling: Word Work will start October 5th. Watch for a letter explaining this next week.

Math: Check your student's folder for Chapter 1 assessments. Our next unit is on Whole Number Multiplication and Division.

Social Studies: During the Native American unit, we will transform our classroom into tribes. Desks will be rearranged and students will be called by their native american name that they chose. Students will participate in a variety of activities involving food, crafts and games.

Science/Health: After reading and writing about cells, we will apply our knowledge to reading and writing about a body system. Students will be responsible for writing a paragraph and creating a poster to show their work.
