A Few Words On...
As the leader of St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, I would just like to share a few words and thoughts on several topics and happenings in our school community.
Extreme Gratitude & Thanks
I want to express how thankful I am for all those who helped make Casino Royale: Betting on Bright Futures a success this past Saturday night. Evenings such as this do not happen by magic, but rather take lots of planning, participation, sacrifice, and generosity from numerous people in order to happen. There are many people in our community to thank including everyone who contributed to classroom baskets, solicited donations from local businesses, donated to the silent auction, donated wine, and purchased tickets to attend. In particular, I would like to thank the efforts of Ania Czupta, Jennifer Thayer, Claudia Zuno, Kelli Battaglia, Heidi Olenczuk, and Arelia Nunez for all of their help in planning throughout the process and in the physical set-up of the fundraiser. We are truly lucky to have families so able to give of their time, talent, and treasure.
Although we will not know for a few days how much money was actually raised for the students and teachers of St. Stan's Academy. We can be sure that the evening was a success on many levels. One of our goals was to bring our community together for fun and celebration after a difficult few years. This past Saturday definitely did that and more in my opinion. Again, thank you to everyone who attended or contributed in some way. We look forward to making this spring fundraiser a yearly occurrence and, with the help and support of our community, it will no doubt continue to get better, bigger, and be more successful!
Chicago Dogs "Homerun for Education" Field Trip
Our Kindergarten through 8th grade students will be taking their field trip to a Chicago Dogs baseball game this Tuesday, May 10. There are some important details for parents, so please take note of the following information:
- Students who are not participating in the field trip should remain home on Tuesday. K-8 Teachers will be out of the building on the trip, so those not attending should not be dropped off at school.
- If you chose to pack a lunch for your son or daughter, please make sure that the lunch is in a bag or container that will not easily open or leak. Be sure to clearly mark your child's name on the lunch as well.
- It is expected to be sunny and hot (80-90 degrees) on Tuesday. Please make sure your child has sunscreen and/or a hat to protect them while at the game.
- Students should dress in their "gym uniforms" on Tuesday. This will allow them to be comfortable, but also allow teachers and staff to easily identify and keep track of our students at the ball park.
Mother/Son Dance - HELP NEEDED
The Mother/Son Dance is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, May 21. We need the help of parents, however, in order for the event to happen and be fun for all involved. I understand that we have had a busy last few weeks, but to this point we have had limited parent involvement in the planning of this dance. If we do not get some extra hands to help, we are not sure the event can take place.
Our Father/Daughter Dance was such a success that it would be sad to see our mothers and sons miss out on a similar opportunity. Since mothers were key in making the Father/Daughter Dance happen, I am asking all fathers to consider helping in the planning and set-up of the Mother/Son Dance. If you are willing to lend a hand or give some of your time, please contact Jen Edwards at jedwards@ststanschicago.org as soon as possible.
