CONGRESSIONAL ART SHOW
Congratulations to Giselle Dominguez, a CHS Senior, who was a Finalist for the 2019 Congressional Art Show and will have her artwork hung in Congressman Greg Stanton’s office until September. Katherine Chou, a CHS Junior, was a runner up, and her work will hang in Greg Stanton’s office until the end of May. Both students are in Ms. Knoll’s AP Studio Art class.
2019 SENIOR SEAL OF BILITERACY RECIPIENTS
Last year was the first year that graduating Arizona students could earn a Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma and reflected on their transcripts. The seal was created to reward high school students who were proficient in English and at least one other language as evidenced by their performance on a state board approved assessment. This year, Chandler High is proud to have 91 seniors earn this distinction!
ATHLETIC SIGNING/RECOGNITION
Congratulations to an additional 20 CHS student-athletes who participated in Chandler High’s Spring NCAA College Signing Recognition Day and committed to play at the next level. That makes 41 signees this year. Great job, Wolves, and good luck!

ART INTERSECTION
Friday, May 10th, was the opening of Art Intersection in downtown Gilbert, and six CHS students had their artwork on display. This is a great honor, as there were over 900 entries and only 80 pieces were chosen to be included. The artwork will be on display through June 1st. Congratulations to the following students:

AVID SENIOR CELEBRATION
Chandler High celebrated the accomplishments of 25 AVID graduating seniors last week during the AVID Senior Celebration and banquet. The seniors, many of whom have been a part of the college-prep elective for four years, have all been accepted to four-year universities and have earned over $350,000 in scholarship offers. Excellent work, Wolves!
END-OF-YEAR BAND CONCERT
Chandler High’s 2019 End-Of-Year Band Concert featured several terrific numbers by the Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble/Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. The bands are conducted by Mr. Carlos Aguero and Mr. Steven Quintana. Congratulations on a great concert!
SOFTBALL ALUM
Chandler High Softball welcomed Kim Bickford, a CHS Softball Alum, to the end-of-season banquet as a keynote speaker. Bickford played for Chandler from 1977-1980 and currently holds several pitching records at Chandler. She is 1st in all time wins (43); 1st in career earned run average (1.05); and 1st in career strikeouts (355).
ORCHESTRA SENIOR CONCERT
Congratulations to CHS’s orchestras and string quartet for putting on a great end-of-year concert last week! The orchestras are conducted by Ms. Danelle Kennedy.

GOVERNOR’S YOUTH COMMISSION
The Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family is searching for inspiring youth leaders from Arizona high schools to serve on the 2019-2020 Governor's Youth Commission (GYC).
The GYC provides teens opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community engagement around some of the issues that impact them most.
Teens will learn how to serve on a board, participate in committees, plan service projects, gain public speaking skills, and build friendships statewide.
If you are a student that will be a high school sophomore, junior or senior during the 2019-2020 school year and has a heart to serve others, please complete the application to serve as an ambassadors in a nationally recognized leadership program.

If you are taking an Advanced Placement (AP) test this month, please view the AP schedule for valuable information on dates/times of tests, as well as important info on what to bring, what NOT to bring, and attendance, arrival, and dismissal. If you are taking an afternoon AP test, the cafeteria will be open at 10:50 for lunch. Good luck to all AP testers!

2019 FRESHMAN ORIENTATION
CHS’s Link Crew will host the 2019 CHS Freshman Orientation on Thursday, July 18th from 7:30am-11:30 am. Parent Orientation will begin at 7:45am in the CCA and will include an hour-long overview of CHS and what parents need to know. Please help us spread the word!

The big day is coming on May 29th….Your senior will be graduating very soon!
There are several important dates for you to remember as follows:
1) JOSTENS – Caps & Gowns and Announcements: Jostens is our provider for caps and gowns, graduation announcements, senior rings and more. If you have not ordered, please do so at www.jostens.com or call 1-800-JOSTENS. The final online cutoff date is April 12, 2019. It is a requirement for your senior to wear a cap and gown unit to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Please mark your calendar for these key dates:
- April 5, 2019 - Jostens will be delivering Pre-Ordered Graduation Announcements & Accessories and also will be accepting Cap and Gown orders in the Courtyard during A & B lunch.
- April 12, 2019 - Final online Cap & Gown order deadline
- May 28, 2019 - Cap and gown delivery after 1st Practice in the Old Gym

2) Handicapped & Multi-Generational Seating – Reservations May 1st – May 15th
Starting May 1st we will be accepting reservations for handicapped and multi-generational seating for the graduation until May 15th. Seating is VERY limited so please make your reservations as soon as possible as it fills up quickly and may be full before May 15th. Also, to obtain access to the field for handicapped seating, you must have a field pass. Please contact Mrs. Baum for handicapped seating and Mrs. Claudio for multi-generational seating at 480-812-7700.
3) Handicapped Parking
Handicapped parking is VERY limited so be sure to arrive early. You must have a placard displayed to receive access to the handicapped parking. If you are unable to park in handicapped parking, we will have a shuttle service available.
4) Graduation Information Booklet
Just before Spring Break, a Graduation Information Booklet was mailed home. It includes all the important information you need to know about graduation, mandatory graduation practices, senior check out requirements and the commencement exercises. This booklet is also posted on the Chandler High School website.
