Friday Focus

Moreau Heights Elementary

December 4

PBS Focus of the Week -

This week our PBS instruction is focused on Following directions again, playing Beat the Teacher to see if students can earn additional compliments for meeting expectations with following directions. You can structure this for a specific learning time or across the morning and afternoon, with the goal of earning up to 2 extra compliments each day for behavior within the classroom.

We are also looking for ways for students to fill buckets of others by using kind words and actions. Be on the look-out for students doing a nice job of bucket filling!

Our Character Trait for the month is Compassion and Empathy

Duties for the Week

Please see your schedule in the handbook for Charger Time duty.

Remember our change of morning cafeteria duty:

*Tom Renner will supervise from 7:30 - 7:45, our reading teachers will supervise from 7:45 - 8:00.

*The staff member currently on duty at 7:30 will need to stay until 7:55 to help with our heaviest traffic times. This may require your team to support differently with students during Charger Time.

Collective Commitment of the Week

Staff will create a sense of belonging so all feel proud, accepted and welcome.

  • We will communicate expectations.

When we know what is expected, we are more likely to meet that expectation.

How do we communicate expectations to our students and to one another? What could we do differently that would support all feeling accepted?

Important Odds and Ends

*The PBS Assembly for December is Friday, December 18th. Please get your awards to me by the end of the day December 17th. Remember to contact families to invite them to attend and celebrate with their award recipient.

*Information about our Moreau Heights Christmas Party, on December 11th, is out. Hope you will be able to join us for a fun evening!

*Please remember that if you are sick and need a sub, please put in your request to Kelly then text (573-230-8651) or email me. If you aren't able to submit your sub request online because of time, you will need to call Kelly Services and submit a request over the phone. 1-866-535-5998 or 635-5962

*Weekly entries should be made to Infinite Campus to update student grades. Thank you for keeping up with grading to help guide instruction and to inform parents of progress.

*Have a colleague who has gone above and beyond or just consistently shows what it means to be dedicated to our students and our school? Send your nomination and a couple sentences describing why you are making this nomination for the January staff appreciation breakfast by December 11th.

*Our work with standards has gotten off to a great start. Remember, we are looking closely at our resources and how they align with the standards. When we find a "hole" in what our resources provide, we find ways to fill that gap with meaningful learning. Please be sure to share resources with one another to assist in the alignment process.

Classroom Diagnostic Tests (CDT)

Grades 3-5 will be administering the CDT during the next two weeks. These are the interim assessments that have been released by DESE to benchmark student progress.

Testing will require the use of ipads or laptops. This will impact availability of the laptop carts during the testing window. This may also mean that some of your ipads will be borrowed for use in testing classrooms for a portion of this time. You will have access to the Title I ipads, for grades k-2, since these will NOT be used for testing.

We will work to get information to you about the schedule for testing an a clear idea about how this might impact ipad use after Thanksgiving break.
