Volunteer Opportunities
Get Up & Get Moving - Rock Cave Elementary, Union Elementary, and Tennerton Elementary Schools
Tuesday, October 25th from 3:30-6 pm - Union
Tuesday, November 1st from 3-5:30 pm - Tennerton
In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles among the children living in and around the local Buckhannon area, the WE LEAD Appalachian Experience team is looking for volunteers to travel to Rock Cave Elementary, Union Elementary, and Tennerton Elementary schools and play games with the children. Student volunteers play a variety of sports with the children and spend a lot of time talking with the kids. The event is a lot of fun for the children, and they always look forward to spending time with the old college kids. If you are interested in reducing obesity rates among youth or just have a passion to help local kids, this is the event for you. To sign up, visit OrgSync and click on the right event here: https://orgsync.com/143599/events?view=upcoming or email Dylan Ringer, Jackson Carey, Mason Winkie, or Faith Johnson.
Pancake Feed for Buckhannon Fire Department
Volunteers are needed to assist with a pancake breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Buckhannon Fire Department. The fire department is a very active part of the community, assisting with local presentations around fire safety as well as assisting with the summer flooding in the southern part of the state. The pancake breakfast will be at First United Methodist Church-Buckhannon, at the corner of Latham and Florida Avenue. If you can volunteer, please e-mail Katie Loudin at loudin_k@wvwc.edu by Wednesday, October 26th.
