I think that the media is anything that involves information or communication. Examples of the media are newspapers, magazines, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and many more. Media is everywhere and in this generation, pretty much rules our world. You can access the media at anytime and anywhere, whether its on your computer, television, phone, or even on billboards. It’s not something that you can run away from which is why even our grandparents had to adapt and start using it more often. The media can benefit you but it can also be negative thing. You are going to have to be able to depict what things are true and important and what is just junk and worthless information.

Being media literate is something that everyone needs to be in order to prosper in this world today. It’s basically being able to know how to media works and how to use it wisely. Not just in one media field though but all of them. Such as music, TV, computer, newspapers and even video games are mediums of the media that you should understand. Media literacy should be learned at a young age because it is so prominent in our life. The average person comes in contact with the media at least ten times a day. Children need to know how to read a book, but they also need to understand how to get on Word document and write a paper. Media literate is something you learn through time and experience but the quicker you learn it, the better off you will be.

John F. Kennedy was a beloved president that was loved by many and is viewed as one of the greatest presidents of all time. He had a beautiful family and was even viewed by some as perfect, and wasn’t far from it at that. Kennedy only wanted what was best for this country and took his job as president very seriously. There was a secret that President Kennedy hid from everyone except those in his immediate family and that classified information was that he had cancer.

At this time cancer was just being discovered and wasn’t even identified as cancer because it was such a new thing. Kennedy had to cancel many appearances and important trips because sometimes the illness was just too much to handle and he needed a day of rest. He would blame it on his wife or his kids and would try to hide the actual reason for his absence as much as possible. The president wanted to keep his image of being unflawed for as long as he could and anyone that knew of the disease was sworn to secrecy. Kennedy viewed this as a sign of weakness and didn’t want other countries or the citizens of America thinking that he wasn’t strong enough to lead their country.

Teams of professionals were working on a cure for cancer but many of them didn’t know who they were looking for and it was very difficult getting blood samples and other things to them that they could examine, without them knowing who it came from. They would send things and say it was a disease from another country that was discovered while the United States was in that nation. As much as Kennedy tried to conceal his condition his body was breaking down and his symptoms worsened day by day. He was a stubborn man and everyone around him knew that so they knew that their suggestions for him to take it easy, was just going in one ear and out the other. The first lady supported him and stood by his side the whole way, she knew her husband better than anyone and every night she would just pray for a cure. She knew what her spouse meant to the people and knew their hope would just be shattered if they knew the man that they would give their life for was suffering from such a fatal illness.

On a cold night in November, Kennedy expressed that he was feeling more pain than usual. Doctors gave him many antibiotics because they were unsure of what they were treating him for and wanted him to just go to sleep, since on other nights that’s all he had to do, and he would wake up feeling better. Kennedy finally went to sleep but the next morning when the first lady went to wake him up, she realized he was dead. The cancer had finally been too much for his body to handle and it could no longer fight off the cancer. The government never released an actual statement on how Kennedy passed because they wanted to fulfill his wishes of not telling the people what was wrong with him. There are many conspiracies of what happened that night but the truth is simply that cancer took Kennedy’s life just as it has taken millions of others.

The people can not know that people disagree with the president or that he that he wasn't being protected.

ALABAMA- Because of the popularity of the show 16 and Pregnant, more and more teenage girls are starting to get pregnant, so that they can be on the show.

On the show 16 and Pregnant, teenage girls flaunt the many things they go through by getting pregnant so young.

But producers express that teenage girls shouldn’t be worried about getting knocked up because most of the issues the girls encounter are exaggerated.

“I’ve always wanted to be an actress but I don’t have the money for acting classes, so I just got pregnant,” expressed Haley who has an audition for 16 and pregnant next week.

She says she’s a shoe in because her family has more problems than Honey Boo Boo.

It turns out her mom is pregnant as well. “I’m so happy Haley’s pregnant, now our kids will be best friends and she will learn some responsibility,” Haley’s mom beams.

The number for teenage pregnancy is steadily rising but so are the show’s ratings, so we aren’t concerned.

“It’ll all work out for the best if I get the part, my baby won’t have to worry because I will have the money to support us,” Haley explains.

By having this show, great mothers will come from it because they are being watched almost constantly.

We are making girls’ dreams come true by making them famous and giving them an opportunity that they otherwise probably wouldn’t have.

16 and Pregnant is doing more harm than good and anyone that thinks its degrading or doesn’t like it, should tune in and watch the show and then make a decision.

What's wrong with the world, mama?
People livin like they ain't got no mamas

I think the whole world's addicted to the drama
Only attracted to the things that'll bring a trauma
Overseas ya we tryin to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin

In the U.S.A, the big C.I.A
The bloods and the crips, and the KKK

But if you only got love for your own race
Then you only leave spac
e to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate, then you're bound to get irate

Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man ya gotta have love, this'll set us straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate, to the love ya'll

People killin
People dyin
Children hurt and
You hear 'em cryin

Will you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father father father, help us
Need some guidance from above

These people got me got me questionin
Where is the love?
(love) where is the love?
(the love) where is the love?
(the love) where is the love?
(where is the love the love my love)

It just ain't the same
Old ways have changed
New days are strange,
is world insane?
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong

Nations droppin bombs
Chemical gasses fillin lungs of little ones
With ongoin sufferin, as the youth die young

So ask yourself, is the lovin really gone
So I can ask myself, really what is going wrong
With this world that we livin in, people keep on givin in
Makin wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends

Not respectin eachother, deny thy brother
A war is goin on but the reason's under cover
The truth is kept secret, and swept under the rug
If you never know truth, then you never know love

Where's the love ya'll? (i don't know)
Where's the truth ya'll? (i don't know)
And where's the love ya'll?

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm getting older, ya'll people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin
Selfishness got us followin the wrong direction

Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema, yo

Whatever happened to the values of humanity?
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love we spreadin animosity
Lack of understandin' leading us away from unity

That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin down
It's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin under

Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found
Now ask yourself

Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Father father father, help us
Need some guidance from above
These people got me got me questionin
Where is the love?

Now sing with me ya'll (one world one world)
We only got (one world one world)
That's all we got (one world one world)
And something's wrong with it
Something's wrong with it
Something's wrong with the w-w-world
We only got (one world one world)
That's all we got (one world one world)

Black Eyed Peas-Where Is the Love?

In this song it tells how people are so discriminatory against one another and basically that our world is constantly at war with each other. By acting the way we do, it is being passed down from generation to generation and you have to ask yourself, when does it end? This is the same as in 1984 because the Party believes that they’re superior to everyone. The morals that the members assert to not have any love and to do just as the Party says without questioning it, is what they teach their children to do. Winston and Julia think that they’re in love but when it comes down to it, they only think about themselves. They say these things just to be rebellious just as we say that we care about people and things going on just because it makes them seem like a better person. In the chorus of the song it basically says that with all the tragedy going on do you ignore it or do something about it. In 1984 they are against love completely and don’t think that it should exist, and in the song they say that love is directly connected to hate which is the truth.

There are so many things that I have learned and will take away from this class. This includes being trained how to write a précis about something. This has helped me in every summary that I have written recently and that is because I don’t beat around the bush I can just get straight to the point and say what I need to say in four to five sentences. When we were first attempting to write one it was very difficult and I didn’t understand it very much, but we have authored so many, that it’s like second nature to me. I’ve also acquired how to question things going on in our reality sometimes, and not to just accept things as they are. It was frightening to think as we read 1984 that it was more like our world as we know it then we wanted to admit. This class was very unique compared to my other Language Arts classes over the years. This one was definitely more relevant to my reality than any other course, especially the social media chapter that we studied. I think that we should connect our work to our lives in every class just as we do in here, because that made the discussion more interesting and entertaining. I think that this course should be a little more interactive though, which was my only problem with it. I think we took a little bit more time than we needed too doing book work and we should interact and have more open debates. I had this class first block so everyone was very quiet and typically still waking up mentally and I think if it would have been more hands on, they would’ve gotten involved more. I think that we should also have a schedule of what we are doing daily from the first day to the last day. The reason this would be beneficial is because most of the stuff we do on here is online so it would help us stay organized especially if we miss class.
