5th Grade

As an introduction activity to 5th grade’s Engineering and Technology Unit, the students were partnered and provided with random materials to construct an object that could meet a consumers wants or needs. We also discussed engineering challenges that occur when you are provided with specific criteria and constraints.

From the materials students designed and constructed various objects such as binoculars, catapults, and music instruments.

4th Grade

Fourth graders had to “Help Save Fred” from drowning. Their engineering project was to design a way to get the life preserver from under the boat to save him. The criteria was that they could use 4 paper clips. The constraint was that they could not use their hands.
