Blue Ridge Elementary School to Remote Learning Days January 13 - 14, 2022

Our commitment is to keep our community informed of the efforts of YCS staff to maintain the safest learning environments possible for our students and staff. After consulting with the YC Health Department, this statement is to announce that we have employees at Blue Ridge Elementary who have tested positive for COVID as well as several employees who are in quarantine.

YCS is proceeding with the highest level of caution while working under the recommendations of the state and the Yancey County Health Department. Blue Ridge Elementary School will be placed on remote learning effective tomorrow, Thursday, January 13, 2022, and Friday, January 14, 2022. Academic work packets and devices will be sent home with the students this afternoon.

The Blue Ridge Elementary MAGIC program will also be closed and will plan to resume on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Any students or staff members who may have come in contact with a person who has tested positive have been notified by the school administration, school nurse or the Yancey County Health Department.

YCS administration will also continue to monitor the situation in the community throughout this week and provide an update if there are changes to any of our other schools.

We encourage parents to keep your children at home if they are not feeling well, have been exposed to COVID, or have tested positive. We will work with parents on absences and make up work. Please contact your school nurse if you have any further questions or concerns.

YCS appreciates the public for continued patience and understanding during this continuing public healthcare crisis.
