The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements: With Big Beautiful Photographs of All 118 Elements in the Periodic Table
The Photographic Card Deck of The Elements is the most detailed, lush, and beautiful set of cards ever produced on the subject of the periodic table. With 126, 5"X5" cards in all, it includes one card for every one of the 118 elements, plus additional cards that explain the arrangement of the periodic table, present the elements sorted by various properties, and suggest activities and uses for the cards.
The front side of each card shows a full-size, photographic image of the element, while the back gives scientific information including atomic weight, density, melting and boiling point, valence, and the percent of the element found in the universe, in the Earth's crust, in oceans, and in humans. Graphics show melting/boiling points, density, electron configuration, and atomic radius. A fascinating fact about the element, as well as the date of its discovery, is also included.
Homeschooling Advice
Expand Students’ Learning Opportunities Around Their Interests
"There are so many benefits that come from homeschooling. One of those being the ability to engage students in the learning process to increase their focus and promote a higher level of critical thinking skills.
With a one-on-one approach, parents can easily identify learning opportunities for their students, based on their individual strengths, interests and challenges. When you have identified areas of weakness, you can create subject specific opportunities for learning that are tied to an interest of theirs. This will help them not only be motivated and enjoy learning, but eventually overcome those weaknesses."

Science Showtime at Golden West College in Huntington Beach
Welcome to Science Showtime
Many of us remember the dreadful days of chemistry, biology and, dare I say it, physics! Well, the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach and Golden West College have teamed to try to not only demystify science but to maybe, just maybe – help kids like it.
For the 11th consecutive year, Huntington Beach Rotary and GWC will host Science Showtime, a free event that is open to the public to get grade-school kids (and their families) interested in science with the hopes that someday those impressionable minds will consider careers using math and science. And this is definitely no boring textbook snooze-fest.
Guests will have access to interactive exhibits, including attractions such as collecting DNA, make slime to take home, take a hand-washing challenge, use a microscope, control a robot, read to a dog, look at your own cells, turn pennies into silver and gold, generate electricity, play math bingo, physics fun, create colored fire, see fluorescent minerals, play with our creepy crawlers, touch a skeleton, learn about your bones, plus much more…..
When: Friday, October 4, 2019
Time: 5pm - 8pm
Where: Golden West College Math And Science Center
15744 Goldenest Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92647
