A Message from Mrs. Caudill
What a week we have had, not just here at Amerman, but around the world! I am so fortunate to be a part such a caring and compassionate community. Your calls, messages, and notes of support are a reminder of what a strong community we have at Amerman. I am extremely grateful and thankful to all of you during this unprecedented time.
We know that the next few weeks will be different for everyone, including your child(ren). By now, you have likely received an email from your child(ren)'s classroom teacher that outlines some suggested resources to use while school is not in session. These are in addition to the district learning supports. While these resources do not take the place of teacher instruction, consider having your child(ren) spend time with these learning opportunities each day. Students thrive on structure, so carving out time for learning will help them maintain some sense of normalcy in an otherwise uncertain time.
In addition to the academic resources being shared by teachers, check out these great ways to support social emotional learning at home:
Play games together to practice turn taking, sharing, winning and losing. Board games are always a fun family activity. PBS also has some online games for younger students that you can find here.

Please continue to check your email and our district website for updates. My plan is to stay connected via our ListServ with read alouds, science experiments and more. I look forward to connecting with everyone. Although it will need to be a virtual connection over the next few weeks, I am hoping to stay connected to our Amerman Community. I encourage you to check email often for updates.
As of right now, our regularly scheduled spring break is from April 6 - April 12 and has not been changed. The current plan is to be back here learning on April 13. If anything changes, we will let you know.
I can’t wait to see you all in mid-April. Please be safe and well.
Warmly,
Devon Caudill

Talent Show
Calling all volunteers with a passion for giving students a voice and place to shine: We are looking for a group of parents/volunteers willing to run this year’s talent show. We would need parents helping in sending a communication to participants, running the tryouts during lunch and recess the second to last week in May, and/or working behind the scenes (at home) collecting music for the show. If you are interested and can help in any way, please email Blake Vertrees at vertreesbl@northvilleschools.org for more information.

March’s Focus: Trustworthy! Habit 6: Synergize!
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of March is Trustworthiness and our Habit of the Month is Habit 6: Synergize.
Synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves.
If you would like to recognize your child for displaying trustworthiness or using Habit 6: Synergize at home, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.
Congratulations Academic Games Participants
Last week 21 of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students (along with students from our other elementaries and middle schools) traveled to Grand Rapids to participate in the Academic Games Super Tournament which is a statewide tournament. Our students had fun and represented the district and Amerman well in conduct and their performance in the competition.
We did have several teams earning high ranks. The 3rd/4th grade team made the playoffs in 2 of the games and received medals in all the 3 games for 2nd and 3rd positions in 2 games and 3rd in one of the games. Additionally, the 3/4 team won the state championship in the game called propaganda! The 5th/6th Grade team won three 2nd place, three 3rd place and one honorable mention. Additionally, 4 Amerman students along with their Meads Mill teammates qualified for the National Academic Games.
