Shout Outs
- Our 2 day Fox Cub Focus was successful. We send shout outs to those of you that were able to volunteer your time on this past Tuesday or Thursday.
- Kindergarten teachers and assistants for successfully planning and carrying the kindergarten orientation this past Thursday. Additional shout outs to Joe Edwards and Doreen Travathan (custodians) for assisting with serving pizza to 5K families prior to our kindergarten orientation.
- J. Doloughty and her husband recently celebrated the wedding of their oldest daughter Bridgette. Best wishes to the newly weds.
- C. Rhodes (reading interventionist) who delivered a healthy baby boy on August 10. Ethan Rhodes was born 8 pounds 14 ounces and 21.5 inches long. Both mom and baby are well.
- Lela Peppers (4th grader) who is a member of the Irmo Little League Minors All-Star Team. They are the 2017 State Champs!

Staffing Updates
The following staff members were approved at the August 10th board meeting:
- Allaire Gehm (kindergarten teacher). Allaire is a graduate of D5. She comes to us with several years of teaching experience as a 4K teacher.
- Marti Newmeyer (teacher assistant). Marti is a D5 parent and former substitute that came highly recommend by the administrative staffs from Irmo Elementary and Crossroads Intermediate School.
Please join us in welcoming our new colleagues and assisting them with their transition.

We are excited to welcome everyone back to campus to officially begin the 2017-2018 school year.
Thanks to our PTO breakfast will be offered from 7:30 - 8:10. Our day will begin at 8:15.
Our goal is to break for lunch around 11:30 ish. Just a reminder to bring any artifacts from your inquiry if it applies. See you all then.

D5 Kickoff Rally/Teacher Workday
Our district kickoff will be held at IHS. We will have two buses to transport our faculty and staff. You are asked to arrive by 7:00 a.m. as the bus will depart at 7:15 a.m. The attire for this event is our blue polos and khakis. Your blue polo can be found in your box upon returning Wednesday.
We will have professional photographers taking faculty and team pictures beginning at 1:30. Further details to come.
Meet the teacher night for Kindergarten through 5th grade is scheduled from 5:00 - 6:00. Given the high turnout all DFES staff will use rear parking to accommodate our visitors.
