HPES Weekly Newsletter

Almost at Spring Break!
I hope you had a restful weekend and got to spend some time outside and with your family and
friends! Last week before Spring Break, remember Friday is staff development so make
the most out of the 4 days with your students! Hope you have a wonderful week.
Possible Retention
It is time to determine if we have students that are getting the first
round retention letter. Remember, the letter should not be the first time a parent is hearing
about their child’s academic (or attendance) struggles. I am attaching the “Possible Retention”
form with a due date for Thursday, March 26th. Please complete and either email or place it
in my box. I would like to be able to mail letters home on Friday March 27th. In April, we will send round 2 letters, and in May we will send round 3 and final letter. This is a process, it is important to know that just because they receive a first round letter, that they will be retained. It gives the parents an opportunity to work with the students before Round two and round three letters go out. After Round three, the committee will review all names and data that is still on the lists as possible retentions, and make the final recommendation.
Campus Wide Tutorials
3-5th grade students and teachers are in tutoring groups from 7:20 - 8:15. As in previous years, some of these grade levels’ students will be joining your classroom during this time. 2-3 students will come to your classroom on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and they have been assigned time to work on the computer and support you in with your morning routines or help your students.
Campus Wide Duty Schedule
Please see the attached morning duty schedule – there are some changes to support the time and coverage for school-wide tutoring.
As always, it is an all-hands-on-deck time, if you see a need somewhere we will greatly appreciate the help.
As a reminder, please please be on time to your morning duty, if you are not going to make it for the day or on time, let one of your team members know to get you coverage.
- If you are an Education Associate – please please be on your spot by 7:05.
- Consistently remind your students about the hallway expectations.
If you have any questions or see any adjustments that need to be made let us know.

Teaching Tip
Provide your students with one-on-one feedback! Like all great coaching it personalizes student learning and provides on-the-spot advice to help learners acquire, adjust, and extend their achievement!
Behavior Tip
A vital component of managing difficult behavior is knowing that your behavior affects the behavior of students. What you say or do in response to a students behavior affects whether the behavior escalates or stops. When you’re aware of this factor, you’re better able to de-escalate difficult behavior and help students regain control and make positive choices.
Campus Improvement Plan:
The CIP for next school year will be created by a campus team including, Principal, AP, IC’s, Interventionist, Classroom teacher, CAAC rep, and campus admin team. The goal is to submit the initial draft of our CIP by June 12. District has provided us with 4 working sessions. Each session consists of a half day. If you are interested in helping, write our CIP please email me. I will need an interventionist, a classroom teacher, and a CAAC representative.
