Columbia Central Performing Arts will present, The Little Mermaid this weekend. In addition, we will host the second annual Student Art Show!
In addition to the musical, come and check out work created by students from 7th to 12th grade in the cafeteria during all performances of the Little Mermaid this weekend!

Please review this helpful information to prevent the spread of illness or infection at school.
Tips to prevent the spread of illness:
- Students should stay home when they are sick.
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after they blow their nose. Help young children do the same. If hands are visibly dirty, use soap and water to clean hands.
- If soap and water are not readily available, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Advising persons to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Covering coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash and cleaning hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer (if soap and water are not readily available).
- Get a flu shot during the flu season.

Support our Local Food Pantry with the Bowls for Soup Fundraiser!
Bowls for Soup will take place on Tuesday, March 10th from 5 to 7 pm. Come out and enjoy a bowl of ice cream and walk away with a student ceramic bowl. All proceeds go to our local food pantry!

Summer Employment Opportunities
We have numerous openings in a wide variety of locations, types of work, and available schedules for quality individuals looking for summer work.
Jackson County Parks will begin the hiring process for our more than 40 seasonal, summer positions. Job opportunities range from 20 to 40 hours per week. Some positions are open to those 16 and older, while others require applicants to be at least 18. Wages range from $9.45 to $14 per hour, depending on the position.
Not posted yet, but coming soon will also be job opportunities at the new American One Event Center at Keeley Park (formerly known as the fairgrounds) for event set up and tear down, and custodial and maintenance positions. These will be part-time, but year-round employment.

Spelling Bee
7th grade and 8th-grade representatives will be competing at the Regional Spelling Bee next Wednesday 3/11 at Western High School.Congratulations and good luck to:

Poetry Contest
Finally, we had over 70, 7th-grade students enter the county-wide poetry contest put on annually by the Jackson District Library. Any winners will be notified sometime in March. Students stretched themselves creatively to try and do something different.

Spring Sports are beginning in March!
Important Announcements about Spring Sports-
JV/Varsity baseball tryouts start March 9th from 7-9 P.M in the Gym
Columbia Clays will hold the first practice on Sunday, 3/8. This practice is for range safety and is at the Jackson Sportsman's club at 12 pm.
CCHS Girls Tennis practice begins on March 9 from 3:10-4:40 PM. Practice will be outside. Dress for the weather!
High school Girls Soccer and Boys/Girls Track also begin next week!
