Thank You
Thank you to the Olson PTO for organizing a delicious luncheon for the staff. We also appreciate the 1st and 3rd grade families for donating snacks, desserts, and drinks to help the staff power through a long couple of days. We'd like to give a special thank you shout out to Mrs. Ogle for heading up the luncheon efforts!
Halloween Costume Parade
Costumes must be appropriate for school and may not include weapons or look alike weapons, full face masks, blood/gore, or extensive face paint. Keep in mind that students will have just a few minutes to change and need to be able to put their costume on with minimal adult assistance.
10 Things the Brain Needs: Exercise
Here are a few of the tips that came in from Olson families:
*Go to the park or visit a new park. Deicke Park in Huntley has a great basketball hoop course that even older kids enjoy.
*Try Frisbee Golf. Lippold Park in Crystal Lake has a frisbee gold course. *Mr. Justice just wrapped up his flying disc (Frisbee) unit and Olson students have amazing Frisbee accuracy!
*Require the kids to go outside and play before screen time.
*Check out the Woodstock Recreation website for youth sports and activities.
*Try a new sport. If your child is nervous about trying something new, see if a friend or a neighbor is interested in joining too.
*Play catch together.
Thanks for all those great tips. When students do at least 60 minutes of exercise every day, it helps their brains be ready to learn. Of course it's healthy for their bodies too. Let's get moving, Mustangs!
