President's Message
Hello Hiteon Families!
We did it! We had an amazing return to Fun Run and exceeded our $50,00 goal! It was a wet and sloppy day but our kids persevered and made it around that track with joyful faces. Thank you so much to our volunteers who stuck it out with us in the rain and kept things moving so smoothly. And thank you to our Hiteon community who came out to cheer on your runners. That extra support gave them the boost they needed to push though. We loved seeing all of you out there. See below for more information on prize winners and distribution dates.
After such a successful return to Fun Run, our biggest concern as a board is that we don't have anyone to fill our President and VP of Fundraising positions. We need people to answer the call and step into these positions or we will have to shut down our PTC. That means all of the funds we just raised will be transferred over to the school to use at their discretion and none of the fun things that our PTC normally runs will be happening in the 2022-23 school year. Art Lit, Family Dance, Bingo Night, as well as support funds for teachers and recess equipment are just a few of the things that are in jeopardy. If you have ever thought about joining the board, this is your time! Contact us today to talk about details. Danielle or I am happy to take you out for a coffee or drink to talk things over.
Kristin Glover
Hiteon PTC President
We need people to join our board in order to keep our PTC going!
Have you ever thought of joining our PTC board? Now is the time! We are in desperate need of people to step in to fill some of our key leadership roles for our Hiteon Parent Teacher Club. Two of our key positions have outgoing members. Per our bylaws, to remain an organization we must have a President and VP of Fundraising. If we do not have these positions filled by June, we will have to close down our PTC. That means none of our fun events we are so excited about bringing back will happen. Time is short. We try to vote in new board members in our May and June meetings so that they can participate in our budgeting meeting for the upcoming school year.
Participating on the board is work but it is fun! It gives you such a unique perspective to the workings of our Hiteon community and provides an opportunity for you to help shape our events and programs. It's even more fun when you bring a friend! Co-chairs mean shared work and having a friend with you to share that load is always a good idea. So grab a friend and volunteer for our board today.
For more information contact our President, Kristin Glover at president@hiteonptc.org today!

Green Team Kids Corner
Green Team repurposed trash and recyclables into new projects at our last meeting - some of our pencil boxes, bird feeders and art projects are now on display in the K/1 wing. Check it out when you're next in the building.
We are also excited to announce our next waste-reduction project - marker recycling! Don't throw away your dried out markers - your Hiteon Green Team and Crayola will recycle them! Look for an announcement soon for easy in-classroom recycling, and start collecting those markers now!
Hiteon's Green Team is a group of 4th and 5th graders passionate about the world we live in, and is volunteer-run by your Hiteon PTC - thanks to all of our volunteers, teachers and parents who make it possible!

Diversity and Inclusion
Celebrate our Stories: AANHPI Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, with this year’s theme of “Advancing Leaders through Collaboration,” which is a continuing theme from last year. “The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.” (Asian Pacific American Heritage Month)
May is also Jewish American Heritage Month, which acknowledges and celebrates the diverse achievement of the Jewish community in the US. “The month of May was chosen due to the highly successful celebration of the 350th Anniversary of American Jewish History in May 2004, which was organized by the Commission for Commemorating 350 Years of American Jewish History.” (Jewish American Heritage Month)
Although May is almost over, let us continue to celebrate the many contributions and achievements of the Jewish American and AANHPI communities.
