Lend a helping hand with Neighborhood Bridges

Neighborhood Bridges allows our community to help our students who have needs. Scan the QR code to learn more about neighborhood bridges and become a subscriber to receive information about needs as they are posted.

Current Need:

There are students in Trussville City Schools lacking funds for lunch this semester. Lunches have been free the last two years and families are adapting to paying for lunches again. Based on current charges, each school will need at least $1000 this semester to cover lunch charges for students who are struggling to pay at this time. Student lunches are $2.50 per day. We currently have over 450 students are charging lunches.

Thank you for sharing your kindness!

Magnolia Elementary School's Student Leadership Team

Members of Magnolia’s Student Leadership Team made their first monthly visit to Peachtree Senior Living on September 21st. Students interviewed the residents about their childhood and learned many interesting facts. After the interview, the students and residents participated in STEM bin activities together. The students enjoyed teaching the residents all about STEM bins while the residents enjoyed completing the various STEM activities. As they departed, the students gave each resident a goody bag and handmade card that was created just for them. A great time was had by these 5th grade students and the residents of Peachtree Senior Living. Magnolia’s Student Leadership Team will visit Peachtree again in October.

September is Attendance Awareness Month! September is Attendance Awareness Month!

stay connected, keep learning graphic from Attendance Works organization
zoom_out_map

September has officially been designated as School Attendance Awareness Month 2022. This year’s theme is “Stay Connected, Keep Learning!”

Chronic absences in elementary schools can often lead to lower reading scores. By middle school, it can be a warning sign if a student is on track to fail or eventually drop out of high school.

The goal is to ensure that every student is at school each day and fully achieving academically.

Chronic absenteeism -18 days or more a year (excused and unexcused) truly places students at greater academic risk - https://vimeo.com/240840053
