Honored Guest Speaker on Gender Equity Ruth Sweetser

has served as president of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) 2005 to 2009, after serving as an AAUW board member and twice chair of the College/University Relations Committee. As national president she represented AAUW on the Champions Board of the NSF-funded National Girls Collaborative Project, and is currently on the Illinois Girls Collaborative Project board. As President of AAUWIllinois, Inc. (1995-1998), she co-founded its Gender Equity Fund in 1996 and established its IT Empowerment for Women and Girls Initiative. She is employed as Director of Corporate Relations at Illinois Institute of Technology, a Ph.D-granting research university in Chicago and globally, with responsibility for business development and managing business relationships

Arthur Kane and his wife, Esther, provides pro bono (free) legal services to blind or visually impaired people with low incomes in metropolitan Chicago and throughout the United States. The Clinic, under Judge Pomaro’s leadership has served more than 1,000 persons in numerous areas of the law, including employment discrimination, personal injury, social security, housing and travel discrimination as well as criminal defense and has been recognized by John Marshall Law School, Vanderbilt Law School and Chief
