My Media Rich farewell

My reflection on your learning experiences in this course and then the MATLT program as a whole

Using social media tools for professional development was a new and positive experience for me. I think it is amazing and motivating to find passionate educators engaged in discussion on a weekly basis. The accessibility of these tools and discussions makes them very useful and practical for professional development. Although I was quite confused in my understanding assignments I managed to make sense of them. I am continually being affirmed of the importance of the teacher to play the role of facilitator in education. Students need to be given more freedom to explore their interests and passions. I see social media tools providing one way for students to do this.

My reflection on any design and development challenges I experienced during the creation of my final project for this course

An e-portfolio is purposeful collection of student work that exhibits the student’s efforts, progress and achievements in one or more areas. Reflection is the "heart and soul" of a portfolio, and is essential to brain- based learning( Kolb., 1984 : Zull, 2012). I though it was all pretty difficult to do because you are taking previous assignments and recreating them guided by Program Learning Outcomes. (see below)

Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to learning using technology.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills in current and emerging instructional technologies.

Design learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the needs of all learners.

Apply research to support learning in a technology-enhanced environment.

Exemplify ethical practices of technology usage.

Evaluate technology resources to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation.

Utilize technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings.

Demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership.

I thought of the overall course as a way to convert activities into technical informal activities. Yes, there are still somethings I am still not quite sure of like: PLO 2 and PLO 4.

One constructive suggestion for how the final project experience could be improved

E-portfolios vary widely in their capabilities and extensibility. I think one way to improve the final project is to have knowledge and critical literacy of the activity you are creating.

reflection on your journey from enrollment to this moment in the MATLT program. You are encouraged to highlight friends, family, instructors or fellow learners and even your Ashford University staff contacts, such as an advisor or librarian, who has contributed to your success!

Throughout this course I reached out to many of my fellow peers. Along the way with this degree my previous instructors were very positive and clear on what was expected of me. My family has always been very supportive of my decision to return back to Ashford to pursue my second masters. One of my biggest supporters is my daughter.
