Principal's Message
Dear Pioneer Community:
As we approach the end of the 3rd quarter of the school year, the end of the school year is ever near, and that means it is time for end of the year exams and assessments. Teachers and students have prepared for Advanced Placement (AP) Exams and Standard of Learning (SOL) assessments throughout the school year, and now will be tasked with finishing the year on a strong and positive note. Exams for AP classes begin the first week of May, while SOL assessments will start around May 15th. The SOL testing period will result in a modified schedule which will be shared with parents shortly via our website and through School Messenger.
School counselors are currently scheduling students for the 2017-18 school year. Parents, please take time to review your student’s potential schedule for next year. Decisions are made based upon input from students and parents.
For our graduating class of 2017, we are preparing for the graduation ceremony to be held at Jiffy Lube Live on June 6, starting at 7 p.m. Please remember we are subject to Jiffy Lube Live’s concert schedule which could impact our graduation date. Any changes will be communicated to you.
I am pleased to note that our school was recently named a School of Excellence by the Prince William County School Board. A tentative date for recognizing this accomplishment is being set and will be finalized and published on our website shortly.
Our performing arts programs and athletic teams have accomplished many great feats this year. State championships, an appearance in the state basketball tournament for our girls, a state championship in swimming, coupled with the recent superior ratings for our band, strings, and chorus programs have made for a memorable winter season. And don’t forget, we have a national champion in the 800 meters as well as Theatre conference champions.
I encourage you to support our talented students by attending musical or theatre performance or athletic events in the coming months. Our calendar is constantly updated and can be found at the top of Patriot’s web page.
Thank you for your continued support of Patriot High School.
Respectfully,
Michael E. Bishop, Ed.D.
