Scientific Writing PD
NGSS
Purpose:
Examine the technical writing and its key principles in a science class. Investigate and discuss instructional strategies such as modeling, scaffolding, and the use of templates. Review the JTHS writing guidelines/standards for each science course. Lesson topics will include: structure and format the strategy of style, making editing and revision a thinking process, use of research proposals, effective peer review, providing valuable instructor feedback, student use of instructor feedback, effective presentations, and evaluating and assessing student work.

This professional development will be in a blended format, that is some of the course will be on-line and some will be face-to-face meetings. One JIU credit and 16 professional development hours for completion of course.
