GAD Activities and Parade
GAD (Greater Andover Days) offers a variety of activities for our families. We hope you get the opportunity to check out some of the events. Don’t forgot the musical performances Thursday evening at the Central Park gazebo. CES 4th and 5th grade students will be performing at 6:55. Students should arrive at 6:30. Ms. Galyon sent home information earlier.
The parade is October 1st and begins at 10:00. The parade route starts at 13th and Andover Road. Entries will line up in the Cottonwood parking lot and nearby vicinity. We'll be somewhere in that area. We ask that the kids wear their Cottonwood shirts and colorful gloves. They can also bring a sack of candy to hand out. We'll all walk together. Families should arrive between 9:30 and 9:45. Parade starts at 10:00. We'll follow the trailer. Hope to see you there!
Walk to School 2016--October 7th
International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. Today, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico – participate every October.
Cottonwood students and families are welcome to join teachers and staff in either the Methodist Church parking lot or the beginning of the Red Bud Trail on 159th at 8:00 am Oct. 7th to walk or bike to school. We will only cancel if it is raining.

Counselor Corner
By Marcie Faust
October Counselor Time: We will be working on a bullying unit the first two weeks. Please talk to your child about how to treat others. We will address what a bully is and what to do if you are being bullied.
We will also be doing Red Ribbon Week activities. This is saying no to drugs and/or bad choices. We will have spirit days during this week – Please watch for a note going home laying out the details for the spirit days.
We will be starting banana splits in October. I have already sent home permission slips. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
If your child is having any school or home related issues, please reach out to me. I will visit with your child in any way that I can help.
