Conservancy Kids
We bring the Sonoran Desert to you!
Welcome to Conservancy Kids!
We are so excited to have you with us on this virtual journey of inquiry and place-based learning! Right now we may be social distancing, but we're all connected by the awesomeness of science. We're junior scientists, exploring the natural world, asking questions, and making discoveries. Join us for an adventure that will take you outdoors, around the house, and into the incredible Sonoran Desert. Welcome to Conservancy Kids! We're excited to see you!
The Pokey Desert
The Sonoran Desert is an amazing place filled with plants and animals that have adapted to survive in this tough environment. Cacti are classic desert plants designed to handle harsh temperatures and lack of water. Cacti store water inside their fleshy pulp, which they save for times of drought. Because they are a great source of water, they protect themselves from thirsty animals with pokey spines. Be careful not to touch them--they'll get you!

Be Prepared to Explore!
As scientists, we need to make sure we're prepared to explore the outdoors safely! Always make sure an adult knows where you are going and when you'll be back. Bring your cell phone and plenty of water so you're ready for your adventure. Check out Luke's tips for exploring safely and our "be prepared" checklist below!
