Hays High School Gifted & Talented Service Design
Hays CISD schools use a cluster model to group students with G/T trained classroom teachers. This design includes teaching core content academic curriculum as well as differentiated instruction for the G/T students. Identified students are offered targeted instructional opportunities such as flexible grouping, accelerated learning, and extension projects.
Advanced Courses and AP: Advanced courses and AP classes are offered in Math, Reading/ Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies by educators who are trained in advanced curriculum and in gifted and talented education.

Secondary Education Gifted & Talented Services
Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. These skills are often evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity. Furthermore, these skills are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Parent Education
Parents of children identified as G/T will have the opportunity to attend educational sessions in the nature and needs of the G/T child.
Gifted Services Evaluation
The District shall annually evaluate the effectiveness of the District’s gifted services, and the results of the evaluation shall be used to modify and update the District and campus improvement plans. The District shall include parents in the evaluation process and shall share the information with Board members, administrators, teachers, counselors, students receiving gifted services, and the community.
Gifted and Talented Advisory Council
The Gifted and Talented Advisory Council (GTAC) meets multiple times a year to evaluate gifted and talented services. GTAC supports and assists the district in G/T student service planning and improvement. GTAC is comprised of district administrators, campus staff, and parents.
