1st & 2nd Grade Lawncrest Families

Dear MaST II Lawncrest Families,

We understand there is a concern with temperatures rising next week. Currently, our plan is to remain open for full days next week. We will shift our 1st and 2nd grade students to the air conditioned MPR if the temperature rises too quickly. With the temperature being over 90 degrees in the afternoon, our classrooms that don’t have air conditioning will be monitored throughout the morning.

If/when there is an early dismissal issued based on heat, it will only be for the 1st and 2nd grade in the main building because not all spaces at the Lawncrest 1st/2nd grade building are cooled. If you would like to pick your child up from school at any point during the day due to your concerns regarding excessive heat you may do so.

If the School District of Philadelphia modifies their schedule to half days due to excessive heat, we will follow that decision. We will update our MaST II Lawncrest families as we closely monitor the situation.

The Kindergarten building has air conditioning; therefore, their days will not be affected by excessive heat.

We encourage and allow shorts and spirit wear on excessive heat days. We also encourage students to remember to bring water bottles for frequent water breaks.

If we were to change to half days in the next week due to heat, we would follow the schedule below for 1st and 2nd grade early dismissal and we would communicate this through Remind text alerts.

• If you are picking up for First Grade please line up at 11:45 AM.

• If you are picking for Second Grade Please line up at 12:00 PM.

• If you are picking up both, please arrive at 11:45 AM.

We will keep Lawncrest families updated through Remind if anything changes.
