A note from our PE department
PE is one of our scholars favorite classes! So often schools today are getting rid of their PE programs in an effort to increase test scores, however, at Odyssey, we know physical movement and PE is one of the most important programs we can offer to our scholars. In an effort to ensure your scholar gets the most from their PE class, please discuss the following with your scholar:
Make sure your scholar wears tennis shoes that tie everyday. We have noticed some scholars are wearing slip on “Vans” type shoes to school. This is a major safety hazard during PE because these shoes can slip off when running, injuring your scholar. Proper attire is key for being able to participate fully in all PE activities. If scholars do not wear the proper shoes, they will be docked points and it will affect their grade in PE.
Make sure your scholar has and wears their PE uniform. This, again, helps them participate fully in PE. We also know that scholars in junior high experience many hormonal changes that results in extra sweating and body odor. Wearing their PE uniform during physical activity helps your scholar stay comfortable during PE class and prevents unpleasant body odors during the remainder of their school day.
Encourage your scholar to use a lock everyday. Scholars are encouraged to lock their belongings in a locker each PE period. OI is not responsible for any belongings lost or stolen due to not being secured properly.
Stay informed!
Teachers post resources and information about their lessons each week on their class websites. If your child is absent, or if you would like to stay informed about what scholars are working on in class each week, we encourage both parents and scholars to utilize this helpful resource each week. To access class websites, please follow these steps:
Once logged into ParentVue/StudentVue, click on “class website” in the menu on the left-hand side menu.
Select each class from the drop down menu
Click on and download the resources posted by teachers
Email teachers directly if you or your scholar have any questions about class resources
