West Word
An Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School West
A Word From Mr. Creeden
As the Middle School West Principal during this past school year I couldn't be more proud of how our students endured through the challenges and experienced many successes through their resilience and hard work. The first word that comes to mind when I think of PV Middle School West is community, a community of parents/guardians, staff, and students that have a number of particular interests in common. PV West is a community of supporters, learners, doers, and creators. A second word that comes to mind is strong. What makes PV West strong is our ability to see challenges not as obstacles, but opportunities to grow. We are West Strong because when faced with challenges we continue to come together as a community to encourage and support each other when learning, performing, competing, enduring the hard times, and celebrating the good times. As this school year concludes I hope our students will continue to remember that their PV West community will always be here to welcome them, listen to them, support them, and empower them to be the best they can be.
Please see some pics below from our final week and day of the 22/23 school year. I hope you have a safe, refreshing, and enjoyable summer and I look forward to seeing our students next school here at West or PVHS.

WESTIVAL!Our amazing Home and School Association hosted our second annual WESTIVAL on Tuesday, June 6th during extended lunch periods. Carnival games, popcorn and cotton candy were available for the students to walk around and enjoy the day together! It was a delightful way to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year! | Pre-K Counts Field DayOur Little Vikings from the IU Pre-K Counts classroom held their field day on Tuesday, May 30th. The pint-size athletes scampered in the sunshine as they competed in relay races and ring toss games. The parachute was their favorite activity! | PEEC TripOn June 1st and 2nd, seventh grade science teachers Danielle Emers and Damico Ponzio took forty-five seventh grade science students to the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for an overnight learning adventure! Students scooped macro invertebrates to learn about pond ecology, navigated an orienteering course through the woods with a compass, and went canoeing. In the evening, students tested their senses on a night hike and capped the day with sâmores and songs around the campfire! Their PEEC experience culminated with a strenuous and educational hike to the Tumbling Waters falls before embarking on their journey back to West. The trip was a wonderful, off-campus opportunity for the students to apply and explore what theyâd learned during the seventh grade life science curriculum. |

See below for more information about Summer Library. Please note: Due to construction in the main office area, on June 19th only, you must enter the school by the door near the loading docks located in the back of the building.
How can you access books online? Current PVSD students may access library ebooks and audiobooks through our Destiny Discover library catalog. See the links below. We also encourage you to utilize ebooks offered by local MCLINC libraries and the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Instead of offering weekly bags, they will offer 3 opportunities for you to come and "shop" for food at Middle School East. There will be perishable and non-perishable food, including milk and fruit. We have created a safe group, where they can come relax, unload and learn they are not alone all while meeting new friends. We believe learning Stress Management tips will help youth deal with the pressures they are feeling at this age and into the future!
This group is free thanks to donations, if you would like to make a donation, it is always appreciated, but not necessary!

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisit Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
