Jaguar Community-
We are wrapping another successful week in the Jungle! Our students continue to amaze me with their resiliency and commitment. We have had a few student athletic events this week and I have so much enjoyed seeing our students competing and participating. We are excited to see our students on Oct. 5th--while it may be only half at a time-this will truly be a step towards bringing our JAGUAR family together again.

Guidelines for Fan Attendance at Athletic and Activity Events
Due to recommendations regarding COVID-19, the Blue Valley School District is limiting our spectators to household family members only in which their student is playing or performing. This would include family members living under the same roof, during this school year. This should not include siblings away at college or otherwise not living at home or other extended family members.
Thank you for respecting the guidelines that have been set to ensure the safety of all athletes and spectators. We can’t wait to see our students performing, participating and playing at games!
Freshmen Preview
All in-person 9th grade students are encouraged to attend the BVW 9th Grade Preview on Oct. 1st and Oct 2nd. Students will attend on the date corresponding to their last name (similar to when we utilize the hybrid schedule the week of Oct. 5th) This is an opportunity for BVW Freshman to Ring the VICTORY BELL bell and walk through the schedule. Students are excused from their classes during this time--so they will not need to check in or attend via Zoom.
Details are below:
Date-- Thu Oct 1 (students with last names A-L)
Fri Oct 2 (students with last names M-Z)
Where--Students will enter through the Front doors of BVW by the Jaguar statue if they are a car rider or by the bus loop if they are a bus rider.
Begin Time--The event will begin at 9:45-students should not be dropped off any earlier than 9:35. Bus riders will arrive shortly before 9:45.
End Time-- Students will be done no later than 10:45. Parents picking up will line up in their cars in the parent drop-off and pick-up loop in front of the school. Bus riders will board the busses at 10:45
What to Bring Students should not bring any items--no computer, books, etc. The only item a student should bring is a pen or pencil. Students should have the ability to view their schedule-so they will need a phone with access to canvas as well

This year these visits will be occurring but they will be held virtually. All college rep visits can be found in Naviance under the colleges tab. At the moment we have 40 visits scheduled and more are added daily. Please sign up in Naviance to attend any session you are interested in.

All students were sent an email on Monday asking them to complete a counseling check in survey. There are questions about academics along with future plans. We are using this information to help guide us in the supports and programming we will offer this school year. At this time we have about 300 responses. Attendance
If your student is going to be absent from school for any reason, please call our Attendance Office (913)239-3701 to report this absence. We will need to know the student’s name (first and last), date and reason for the absence, and spell the last name. If your student is going to be late to school or needs to leave school early, please include that in your message. If your student is going to be absent due to a school activity, it is not necessary for you to call. Even though we are distance and/or virtual learning, accurate attendance records are required.
