Titan Staff News
Week of February 9
Titans,
One of my favorite quotes is from NFL Football Coach, Mike Ditka, "Today's preparation is tomorrow's success." The past two weeks have been usually busy with two field trips. We took our 8th graders to the University of North Texas and our 7th graders toured all of the NISD Academies. These are two important steps in preparation for their future. While both of these events took an enormous amount of flexibility on everyone's part, the gains far outweigh the inconveniences. As the students returned this week, they were excitedly sharing all they saw and learned. It's field trips like these that tie together all the hard work you are doing in the classroom and help the students see their future.
Have a great weekend,
Kim

PLC Discussions
Remember this image from several weeks ago.... this past week (or this coming week) in your PLCs and Department Mtgs you looked at Semester Exam data. Notice where this is located in the pyramid. While it's important for us to be aware of this data, looking at it in reference to the semester grade distributions adds value and relevance. Please note that the continual disaggregation of your daily formative assessment and quizzes is your most powerful tool in changing instruction and student achievement.
As you work in your PLCs, reflect upon your instructional practice as a teacher in relation to your students' performance. Did you get the outcomes you planned for?
