Class Requests for 2023
Annual Community Meeting
All members of our St Luke's community are invited to our Annual Community Meeting which this year takes the form of a sundowner. The School Advisory Council and Parents & Friends will present their annual reports and voting for new members will take place. This evening is also an opportunity to say thank you to all who have volunteered in various capacities throughout 2022. Don’t forget to RSVP so we can cater for everyone. RSVP LINK HERE
Hello Highschool!
Moving from primary school to high school can bring enormous change for young people and parents. This move can be exciting and fun, but it can also invite overwhelm, stress and anxiety, especially if young people do not feel adequately equipped with tools and strategies needed to transition more confidently.
Yesterday our Year 6 students went to Liwara Catholic Primary School to spend a day with Claire Eaton, Author and Presenter of Hello High School. Claire shared her Hello High School presentation with students during the day and their parents in the evening.
Key takeaways for our students:
- Manage their mindset and understand emotions
(Discover how the quality of our thoughts impact emotions, simple ways to think well, be self-aware, notice self-talk and learn tools to turn thoughts and emotions around) - Think in helpful ways and use perspective wisely
(Explore tween-friendly switch strategies which help high schoolers maintain perspective, work with their emotions and be kind to themselves on their new adventure) - Handle change, challenges, setbacks, and success
(Discuss the power of stories, facts and beliefs which can help or hinder high school happiness, especially in tough times) - Get sorted, feel organised and learn to be more productive
(Share practical routines, rituals and time-tested ways to get work done and feel good) - Find their 'fit', build healthy friendships and stay true to themselves
(Learn the Three L’s to foster harmony and ways to stay true to you, even if everyone is hustling for popularity)
The feedback from the day was that it was 'incredibly useful, worthwhile and enjoyable time was had by all'. For further information, Claire’s books for teens may be a useful resource: ROC and RISE and Hello High School.
Students not returning in 2023
Student positions at St Luke's are highly sought after in the community. If you are not returning to St Luke's in 2023 please notify the office as soon as possible by emailing admin@stlukeswoodvale.wa.edu.au. Thank you.

BYOD Portal Years 4 - 6 in 2023
For any parents wishing to purchase an iPad for 2023, please find the discounted pricing via this portal link https://www.jbeducation.com.au/byod/?code=stlukeswa2023. The Gen 10 iPad has been recently released by Apple and will be available at a discounted price via this link by next Monday. For now, you will see the Gen 9 iPads only. You are welcome to purchase the Gen 9 or the Gen 10 for next year.
There are optional extras on this portal link which you are welcome to purchase, such as, headphones, covers, keyboards and a stylus. Please note that the Year 5 and 6 students will not require headphones as these are included on your booklist. All students are strongly encouraged to have a keyboard with their iPad.
Apple are not allowing JBHIFI to pre-configure the iPads anymore, so this means that ALL iPads, whether they are new or pre-used, will need to be dropped off to school for us to enrol them in our JAMF management system. If you could please have these dropped off at the office by the 12th of December, we will endeavour to have them back to you by the end of the week. You are welcome to drop them off earlier if that is more convenient too. Please bring them to the office clearly labelled with your child’s name.
If you would like to bring in your own iPad for the BYOD program, please ensure it is at least a Gen 9 with no less than 64GB of storage. These also need to be dropped off (completely wiped and not signed into iCloud) by the 12th of December so that we can enrol them.
If your order hasn’t arrived by the end of Week 10, we will enrol your child’s device in the first week of next year. Please just ensure it is restored to its factory settings and not signed into iCloud when handing it into the front office.
Here is a handbook with further information regarding the portal and the links that Nathan (ITDynamics) spoke to the parents about at the BYOD Parent information Evening. We trust you find these useful.
Booklists 2023
Bulk order lists have been ordered by our class teachers for 2023. Therefore, no formal booklists will be sent home this year from Kindy to Year 6. All items will be delivered to the school during January. Booklist levies will be included on the school fees for 2023.
Uniform Update
We look forward to officially unveiling our new school uniform at this year's ACM Sundowner on the 23rd of November.
As previously mentioned, we will have a 2 year transition period where the old uniform will be accepted. We will have full implementation of the new uniform in 2025. This means that all our current students in Year 4 upwards will not need to change their uniform over if they do not wish to. We hope this will give our families enough time to transition to the new uniform without a great expense to each family.
If any parents are keen to start buying for next year, the following items are ready in store now:
- Kindy and Pre-Kindy Tees
- Skorts
- Shorts
- School Faction Polos
- White and Navy Socks
- Girls Navy Pleated skirt
- Jumpers (due in stock 21st Nov)
- Reversible Faction Bucket Hats
- School bags
If you would like to try on for size, the following sizing kits are available:
- Boys Formal Navy Shorts
- Woollen Jumpers
We are still awaiting the arrival of the following items in January:
- Tracksuits
- Shirts
- Blouses
- Boys Formal Shorts
All remaining items from 2022 in the old style uniform are still available to purchase online at the reduced prices and will remain so until the end of our transition period.

Christmas Concert- 2nd December
We are excited to announce this year's Christmas Concert will be another wonderful affair! We will have performances from all classes from Kindy to Year 6. Please be mindful that all children from K-6 are expected to attend this event. In some classes, an absent student can affect the dance choreography and let the class down. Thank you for your understanding.
Families can start setting up their picnics from 5pm and the concert will run from 6.30 - 7.30pm.
Students are encouraged to wear their own Christmas themed clothing and accessories. This can be as simple as wearing a Christmas shirt, a Santa hat or any Christmas coloured clothing (red, green, white, silver or gold). Pre-Primary students are also encouraged to wear shorts to go with the theme of their item. Please make sure that these are appropriate and comfortable enough for students to move in.
It is sure to be a wonderful evening!
