Message from Mrs. Felts & Mrs. Glover
Hello September!!
We have started visiting classrooms to conduct our SEL lessons. During the month of September one of the counselors will visit the classrooms for 30 minutes. This month we continue to discuss "Making Connections" with teachers and other students. We also continue to discuss kindness and what it looks like here at school, with the help of "Start With Hello" program. Beginning this month, two students per classroom will be nominated to receive the Be Kind award.

You can help reinforce what students are learning in the classroom by doing the following activities at home.
*Ask your child about their school day
*Role play kindness scenarios at home
*Point out times when kindness is shown in public places, even while driving
*Encourage your student to talk to counselors when needed

We highly encourage to bring your child to school every day, unless they are sick. Every student has the opportunity to earn 10 Zavala dollars for being here every day!

Mission & Vision
The mission of the De Zavala Counseling Department is to collaborate with stakeholders to promote kindness, compassion and respect among the entire student body by providing them with the social emotional tools needed to assist with real-life experiences.
The vision of the De Zavala Counseling Department is to empower all students in reaching their maximum potential and becoming responsible, contributing 21st century leaders. Through our comprehensive counseling program, we will address academic, social emotional and career goals which will empower their college, career, military and emotional readiness.
