The Status of High School Sports for 20-21

For those of us that are involved with high school sports, it's been a roller coaster ride over the past eight months since we were shut down in March. As I write you now, there is no clear plan from the state or CIF that has been communicated as to how we'll resume having competitions this year. With that being said, there have been signs that if there's Covid-related improvement in our communities, that a plan has been discussed and will be communicated.

What this means is that we continue to have safe, outdoor workouts for our athletic programs right now. We need to continue to remain positive that things will improve and that competitions will resume soon. Our programs will focus on the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our student-athletes during this time. And finally, the Athletic Department will work to stay prepared for whatever is to come this year along with communicating any updates to all programs and our community.

Fall NLI Signing Day

We chose to not have an in-person Signing Day ceremony on November 11th for our athletes, but we definitely want to honor their accomplishment and commitment to play at the collegiate level next Fall. The following athletes signed their National Letter of Intent and we will definitely invite them to our Spring ceremony should we be able to have one in-person with friends and families. Congratulations to these Patriots!

Carlos Dubon - Semper Fidelis All American

One of only 96 in the nation!

It's rare that you have a student-athlete on your campus where you can boast the above statistic for them, but we have one. Carlos Dubon was selected a Semper Fidelis All American this year where only a total of 96 were selected nationwide. He was selected for excelling in the classroom and as an athlete, but also for demonstrating strong leadership and character.

Typically, his selection would've meant a trip to Washington D.C. and also the Marine Corps Base Quantico to be recognized with the other 95 honorees. Due to Covid concerns, the Semper Fidelis All American program mailed the plaques to us and asked our school site to perform a ceremony for Carlos. On Monday, November 16, we did just that. With his parents and coaches present, we honored Carlos for this incredible accomplishment. We are proud of our Patriot!

Fall Athletes of the Week

With Fall Sports being pushed back to begin in December, we've looked to honor athletes that have shown tremendous work ethic and leadership in this time leading up to what we hope will be a sports season. These are some of our finest! Thank you to the following Patriots for being great leaders for their programs and ambassadors for our school!

Parting Words

To all Patriots and their families, please be safe and healthy through this time. Enjoy the holidays, but celebrate responsibly by wearing your masks for your family and community! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to everyone!
