UPDATE AVON39 WALK
take a look at how Suzannah is crushing cancer!
Suzannah's update
THANK YOU to the many who have already made a donation towards my AVON39 walk. I am only $200 away from my goal of $1,800! WOW! Look at how far I have come in 10 days!
I am writing to you for two reasons: first, to share with you that my recent diagnosis of skin cancer, malignant melanoma, and surgery on Friday, April 10th, have a very happy ending. The surgery went very well, my leg is healing nicely (I will have an unsightly scar...) and the pathology results from the sentinel lymph nodes came back perfectly clear with no signs of cancer. I am so incredibly relieved and have an inexplainable appreciation for my Surgical Oncologist at Johns Hopkins. I do not need further treatment for this melanoma, but will be closely monitored by my dermatologist and oncologist for future suspicious skin changes throughout the rest of my life. I'll take extra doctors appointments and an ugly scar over cancer any day!
Herein lies my second reason for reaching out to you: I have been given a second chance at living a FULL and HEALTHY life! As I mentioned before, I have been the healthiest woman in the waiting room of many oncologist appointments. I have witnessed many strong women fighting for their lives, in wheelchairs, having lost hair through chemotherapy, and looked in their pallid faces full of hope. 40,000 women will die of breast cancer this year. I think Cancer is cruel and the concept of thousands of women fighting for their lives every day makes me sick. I want funded research to allow more women the chance I have: to leave the waiting room behind them and LIVE the rest of their lives cancer free!
I've made the decision to crush breast cancer by participating in AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer on May 2-3. It will be two days and 39.3 miles of sore muscles and blisters, but I'm ready to take on the challenge! I am walking with my sister, Katy Hulse, and we have named our team "Blister Sisters”!
Help me exceed $1,800 in the next 10 days!
Part of earning my 39 is raising $1,800 (WOW! a huge challenge). A critical part of this challenge requires me to face my fears about asking for donations. The money raised through the AVON 39 goes to fund important research and community programs both locally and nationally. This is about saving lives, and I'm ready to do my part!
I can accept donations up through April 30th. No amount is too great or too small. With a minimum fundraising goal of $1,800 I will be thankful for any gift you are able to give. All gifts will help save lives!
