What a unique school year this has been! With the finish line finally in plain sight, we wanted to offer you, your students, and their parents a special boost of motivation to finish strong. To do this, we have invited LaVonna Roth, creator and founder of Ignite your S.H.I.N.E, to create some “Motivational Monday” videos for you!
Click HERE for LaVonna's next video!
LaVonna Roth’s mission is to transform education by empowering educators to find greatness within their students and themselves. Using the lens of brain research and social-emotional learning, she strives to motivate educators to meet the needs of the whole child while also taking care of their own needs. A former elementary and secondary educator and a Mom, she is able to understand the challenges facing our educators and parents today and offers her support and wisdom to create a “Shinetastic” educational experience for all.
In addition to her motivational video, LaVonna has graciously provided access for all teachers to her “Ignite your S.H.I.N.E.” curricular resource. This SEL resource, offered for all grade levels PreK-12, gives lesson ideas and suggestions to help teachers engage students in their own social-emotional development. With the strain of quarantine beginning to take its toll on our students, these lessons may be a great way to help your students finish strong!

Join the CITE or LEAD Focus Group!
Over the past 6 years, amazing educators across the district have come together to support and improve our evaluation system. Some of our focus group activities have included providing input into our CITE and LEAD rubrics, designing and launching the CITE Rubric Survey during the fall of 2019, and using feedback from several resources (including the recent CITE Rubric Survey) to make positive changes to our evaluation system.
There are two opportunities for you to serve: the CITE Focus Group (for any educator group - teacher, SSP, administrator) and the LEAD Focus Group (for APs, Principals, Deans). If you are interested in either of these opportunities you can view the dates and sign up using the links below or contact Deanne Kirby (dmkirby@dcsdk12.org) for more information.
