The Principal's POV on...Being THANKFUL for our PLT's!

Making the leap from business as usual to the unknown requires an enormous amount of trust - Daniel Venables.

Throughout his text on teacher led PLT's (Professional Learning Teams), Dan Venables shares various scenarios & provides sound advice to help us navigate potential "growing pains" as our teams take shape. Ultimately, it boils down to the relationships we have with one another, and an unwavering focus on the kiddos & on the work we do.

As I reflect on our first meeting this year, I remember sitting with each team and saying: I have no idea how to structure our "investigations", but we're going to jump in there & it will be great! Well, needless to say we are two months into the process and it has been simply AMAZING! And so, I wanted to leave you with a quote from Venables' text that perfectly sums up how I feel going into this Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful holiday & THANK YOU for all you do for our kiddos!

I always leave such meetings feeling proud to be an educator & impressed by how professionally teachers comport themselves when they are operating in an environment that supports it.

AM Routines: It is such a wonderful thing to start off each day with my Check-in Team, our Bulldog Buddy winners & our birthday kiddos! In order to support our Hallway HEROES initiative (see below), I'm going to tweak some routines to assist w/crowd control in the office and hallways. Here's the plan!

  • Birthday Selfies - Rather than sending students down, I will come to the classrooms starting Monday.
  • Student "Helpers" - Be judicial when sending Check-in students & Bulldog Buddy winners with "helpers." Most students are able to make it down to my office on their own at this point.

Project Hallway: We will be starting our Bulldog Buddies "Project Hallway" initiative on Monday! Check your email for details! Prep your kiddos & be ready with your strategies! Lets see which class get the most biscuits! See below for our hallway expectations!
