STUDENT ABSENT / TARDY LINE - 802-425-6688
TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS - PLEASE READ
Our dismissal efficiency and safety relies on clear communication and is a responsibility from our whole community.
- In front of CCS on Hinesburg Road, the speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph and is being regularly patrolled by the Vermont State Police.
- If you are planning for your child to ride another bus to a friend’s house, to get off at a different bus stop than their own home, to be picked up by another family or to walk from the school to another location than home, please send written notification to claware@cvsdvt.org and your child’s classroom teacher at least 60 minutes before the end of the day.
- Minimize your speed and be cell-free driving through our school parking lots.
- Tuesday night, the NBC News reported on a danger to children from "frontovers" because of a lack of front visibility in many SUV designs. The safety hazard is very shocking. Please take a moment to watch the link. It could prevent a terrible and senseless tragedy in our own community.
- All students riding a bus must comply with the directions of the school bus driver for the safety of all. Students are expected to be sitting calmly with their whole body sitting on the seat. Interactions must not be a distraction to the driver.
LOST AND FOUND OVERLOWING WITH OUTER WEAR
The Lost and Found is once again overflowing. Water bottles and outerwear from the playground recess times seem to be what filled it up so quickly this week. Please have your child(ren) check the lost and found for any missing items. The lost and found is located in the front lobby vestibule and parents are encourage to check it out anytime during school hours.
ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families, Caregivers and Community Members,
This week, our staffing has significantly been impacted by illnesses. One takeaway from running a school during COVID was the priority to keep all classrooms open providing universal instruction. From there, I evaluate how to keep supports and programming as consistent as possible. This is not easy and requires people flexing to perform responsibilities outside of their normal job descriptions. If anyone is able to be a substitute teacher, please reach out to nstrada@cvsdvt.org
Several years ago, CCS moved away from celebrating Halloween during our school day to maintain a calm routine focused on learning and social activities that are accessible and inclusive for all of our students. If your family is interested in celebrating Halloween, check out the fantastic festivities happening around town highlighted in the Charlotte News Article from October 13th. We appreciate the partnerships in our community that provide support and opportunities for our students.
On Friday, November 4th, we will have our third whole school morning meeting. This will be hosted by the 6th grade with an additional invitation from our Student Leadership Council to encourage all CCS students to share their hopes for the coming year, thus gathering student voices and creating opportunities for student-led innovation.
Take a moment to look through some of the photos of this week’s activities here at CCS.
Have a safe and fun-filled weekend. We look forward to seeing our learners back in the building on Monday.
All the best,
Jen

LOOKING FOR DONATIONS OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS AND STUFFED ANIMALS
Hello Community Members,
I'm Sarah Stein, an 8th grader at CCS. In wellness we were asked to choose a project to help our community. I chose to collect books and stuffed animals. Then I will read to a children's group in Hinesburg. I am taking donations of lightly used children's books for kids under 10 and stuffed animals. If you would like to contribute to this, please deliver whatever you can to the box in the front lobby before November 1st. Whatever you can donate would be a big help to me and my cause.
Thank you so much, Sarah.

CVU THEATER PRESENTS: AMELIE - NOVEMBER 11TH - 13TH
Join us in Paris….via the CVU main stage…for Amélie.
Amélie is an extraordinary young woman who lives quietly in the world but loudly in her mind. She covertly improvises small but surprising acts of kindness that bring joy and mayhem. But when a chance at love comes her way, Amélie realizes that to find happiness she’ll have to risk everything and say what’s in her heart. Be inspired by this imaginative dreamer who finds her voice, discovers the power of connection, and sees possibility around every corner.
Showtimes are Friday, November 11th at 7pm, Saturday, November 12th at 2pm and again at 7pm, and Sunday, November 13th at 2pm at the CVU theater. Purchase tickets ahead of time online at: https://www.ticketsource.us/cvutheater or at the door the day of the performance. Be sure to check the ticket site to see if the show is sold out. $10 General Admission; $8 Students/Children/Staff. All ages show.
