Comprehension Corner: Asking Questions During Reading
Last week we practiced asking questions before we read. We used the title, cover and our background knowledge to ask questions about a book. This week we will focus on asking questions during reading. Asking questions during reading help the reader engage with the story by predicting and inferring based on the words or pictures in the text. This will help readers remember what they are reading and pay attention to the events in the story. Watch the instructional video below about asking questions before, during and after reading. Then listen to the book below. During the reading of the book below have your child ask questions while they are listening by pausing the story and asking or writing their questions.
