Rātā Street School Pānui

Newsletter No 16 Term 4

Kia ora whānau

There was great excitement yesterday morning as our Year 6 children headed off to camp. The bags were packed, the weather was stunning, and there were big smiles on the faces of the children, teachers and parents as they boarded the bus for Forest Lakes. Camp is a special time and I’m sure everyone will have a ball over the next couple of days. I can’t wait to hear about all their adventures when I head to camp tomorrow morning, and of course when they return to school on Thursday afternoon. That said, I’m sure there will be more than a few tired bodies once they arrive back at school.

Thinking ahead to next year, I would like to remind whānau that if you have a child who is turning 5 and is starting school, then now is the time for you to complete an enrolment form, so that classroom placements can be made. If you need an enrolment form, please contact the office.

New Students

We warmly welcome the following tamariki and their whānau to Rātā Street School:

Shauharn and Maddox

After 21 years of pure dedication to Rātā Street School, our highly respected and cherished Deputy Principal, Glenda Stewart, will be leaving us at the end of the term.

Glenda has been instrumental in making Rātā Street School the place that it is. Her passion for the children and the place in general is evident in everything that she does. Glenda leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the tamariki and one of her greatest strengths is her ability to get to know them as individuals and to make them feel valued and special, she quite simply has the magic touch. Glenda keeps the children at the heart of the decisions that she makes and this is a quality to be admired.

It goes without saying that her enthusiasm and caring nature is going to be greatly missed by everyone here. We wish Glenda all the very best and every success for the future.
