Learning Targets
Learning targets are important because they express the learning target in kid friendly language and the students can connect the activity with the learning expectation.
Our goal is for our kids to be able to express the learning target.
Thus, a LT should be referenced at least 3x during the lesson.
Also, the LT should be updated and reflect the current lesson. In other words, the math LT for today should be posted instead of the LT from yesterday's (let alone from last week's lesson). Check you LT each day to make sure it is the LT you want posted.
So, a "look for" next week is that your LT is accurate for the day. Perhaps this should be a student job: LT Updater. The student can remind the teacher to say the LT at the beginning of the lesson and this cue can remind our teachers to check the LT so that it is reflective of the current lesson.
