Lincoln Instructional Technology
Weekly Update 1/15/16
Important Updates
The Friday Institute through NC State hosts MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for educators. I have done two of them, which have been fantastic. They are FREE, self-paced, and a great networking opportunity. They are typically 20 hours worth of work over a few months, equating to 1.25 PG credits. One noteworthy course coming up for Lincoln is "Disciplinary Literacy for Deeper Learning." Check it out! If you need help putting it into Skyward, let me know.
#Hyperdocs
#Hyperdoc is a new term for a simple idea-- essentially, having a lesson "hyperlinked" in a doc, presentation, or website to include the resources and expectations a student might need to complete the activity. Here are few examples....think: pre-made lessons for the teacher!
Force Copy
Force people to make a copy of your document by changing the word "edit" in the URL/address bar to "copy." Be sure to share your document with "anyone with the link can view" "D64 can view" first.
Critique Protocol
Consider adapting/sharing this critique protocol with students. It emphasizes:
- Being mindful
- Hard on content, soft on people
- Stepping up, and stepping back
- Being kind, specific, and helpful
