This is the order the buses will arrive/ leave in the afternoon:
first wave - 11, 9, 15, 26, 2
second wave - 18, 12, 16, 4, 24
third wave - 7, 10, 1
Reminder About After School Pick-ups
If you are picking your student up after school, please do NOT park in the gravel lot between the high school and District Office. Parent car pick-up in the afternoon enters from Commercial Ave and proceeds around the parking area in front of the PAC. Again, please do not park in the gravel lot to the east of the building to pick up your student. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please also remind your students that is dangerous to walk between buses and they need to walk around them. Thank you for helping us keep your student safe!
22-23 Chromebook Insurance
If you have not yet purchased Chromebook insurance it's not too late! Having insurance for your student's chromebook can mean the difference between a $25 deductible fee and hundreds of dollars in repair fees. Uninsured repair fees start at $45 and go up from there. In addition, students who do not have chromebook insurance are required to leave their chromebook at school instead of taking it home.
Chromebook insurance costs $15 and can still be purchased. Here is the link to purchase insurance.
Families with Free & Reduced lunch benefits have the $15 waived.
If you paid for insurance last year, it will expire on 9/20/22. Don't delay, purchase your Chromebook insurance today!
We need your help with the Career Fair
The Career Fair on September 21 is fast approaching, and we are still in need of individuals and businesses to participate and share their knowledge. In a nutshell, we want to allow students to explore different career paths by talking with and asking questions of real world representatives from each of the 16 career clusters.
If you have any contacts that would be willing to help us out, please send them my way or share the Career Fair Website with them. A sign-up link is included on the website. I've also attached a flyer to share if you'd like.
We need multiple representatives for each career area and welcome all that can participate, but we especially have gaps in the following areas:
STEM/Engineering
Manufacturing
Transportation, Distribution & Logistics
Information Technology
Thanks in advance for your help!

Parking Pass Update
Parking passes were distributed through Warrior Time teachers. If a student does not receive one by Tuesday, September 6th AFTER Warrior Time and feels they should have, please send me an email (edwardsla@smithville.k12.mo.us), or stop by before or after school. My hours are 7:00-3:00 pm.
Any student that is still desiring to park in the High School parking lot will have next week to purchase a parking pass and fill out the appropriate forms before fines will start to be assessed. Starting Monday September 12th you MUST have a parking pass displayed properly hanging from your car's rear view mirror in order to park in the parking lot.

Seeking runners (:or walkers) and volunteers
Greetings,
I hope everyone has had a great first week of school!
In addition to being the Athletic Trainer for the district I am also the current President of Smithville Community in Action. Some of you took time to visit with us at our table at the back to school fair. Our coalition provides funding and programming for substance use prevention, building resiliency and improving mental health and wellness. We also sponsor the Senior Trading Card Program and scholarships for seniors.
Our biggest fundraiser is our annual 5k which will be held Saturday Sept. 17th at 8:30. We are still looking for more participants. Even if you don't want to run, we also have walkers. You can sign up for the 5k at https://www.smithvillecia.org/5k
Sign up will continue until the week of, but in order to guarantee a t-shirt please sign up by Friday Aug 26th.
Unable to join us for a run, we are also seeking volunteers to help with the actual race itself. There are several different volunteer opportunities. You can fill out this google form if you would like to help. We provide all of our volunteers with a great shirt as well!
