Montrose Messenger
February 17, 2023
I hope you are healthy and feeling good about your child's learning experiences. We have been enriched by so much in the past few weeks.
In January, the South Orange Public Library's Youth Services Director, Ms. Keisha, came and read to each class. That was such a treat! Ms. Keisha really enjoyed her time here, and has committed to spending time with us once a month until the end of the year. We are excited for this partnership!
If you haven't already, please stop by the SOPL and say hi to Ms. Keisha. She'd be happy to see you!
Nurse's Notes
Hello Montrose Families,
Wow, I can’t believe we are in the middle of February! February started the Montrose Medical/Hospital theme. I scheduled the New Jersey Department of Health to come and do an Oral Hygiene lesson on February 15. The children enjoyed our guest, who spoke about good oral hygiene and healthy snacks. Attached is the brochure for their Children's Oral Health Program.
During the theme, I will also be visiting the classrooms and reading a story, discussing a visit to the hospital, and demonstrating how a few of my instruments work and their uses.
Also, I am sharing a valuable resource for families that may need free dental care. Attached is a free program that provides oral healthcare to underserved children at no cost and it will be available for the entire month of February. This is from The Child Care Health Consultants. Please check out this Give Kids a Smile 2023 schedule for dates and locations.
Lastly, we are right in the middle of the cold and flu season. There was an email sent out a few weeks ago on when to keep your children home due to illness. If you have not read it, please do. We are trying our best to keep the illnesses down to a minimum at Montrose, and we appreciate your cooperation and support.
Stay Healthy,
Nurse Steffi
Dance with Ms. Leslie
Dance educator Ms. Leslie provided each class with a 30 minute ballet and movement lesson. What a treat! The children and staff were exposed to ballet terminology, stances and moves. The smiles were beautiful and there are plenty of talented dancers among us!
